Hey guys I have actually done this once but I can't remember the site I found the code for it on. It uses run but I erase my cookies daily to keep mum off my trail as this is her PC. Now I am going to rebuild MY laptop and I was going to ask can anyone tell me how to make a password that will ask for itself BEFORE the welcome screen. Please don't suggest BIOS settings as I already know about this however you are limited to 8 character passwords and I was hoping for bigger. I know this is do able if anyone can figure out the run code for this it would be great thanks!

I am using Windows 7 home premium with a Acer PC although the make and model won't affect this as it's a windows 7 setting

Hello,

I don't really know why you are trying to do this. A widows password will be enough to secure your data, especially if your only concern is your mum...

Again, with the BIOS boot password, 8 characters is more than enough in most situations - Although you can bypass these with some tom foolery.

Also... Don't make duplicate threads. It congests the forum.

That link is one I cannot access. However I did not get an answer there. So I thought it was in the wrong section and secondly this idea IS NOT for my mum's PC it's for MY laptop which I am rebuilding
