I have a new Toshiba satellite L500 laptop with windows 7 64-bit home premium OS, I found an issue with the wireless utility where it works fine when i open the PC, but after sometime (about an hour) it stop working, i tried to use windows troubleshooter, it help me fixing the problem sometimes (saying that the solution is to enable the wireless network connection adapter) but only for a short time.

I had installed Linux Ubuntu OS on the machine, and the wireless works just fine, so the problem is something with windows 7.

Check with toshiba's website for updated wifi drivers/software for your model.
Just because it's new doesn't automatically mean it has up to date support on it.

You may also look into changing the channel your router is operating on. In it's settings.
This could also be a side effect of power management.
Does the problem occur while you are using the system, or only when it has been idle?

The only time I saw this problem and it wasn't solved by driver or channel changes, it was actually being caused by the encryption method in use. ...apparently the specific device in question just didn't like wpa2.

Installing wireless adapter driver for windows 7

Hi,

I have a problem with my WiFi adapter where it is getting disabled by itself, some people advised me to uninstall and reinstall the "wireless network connection adapter", the uninstalling part is easy but I want to have full information about how to reinstall it before i start so that i can avoid any bad surprises.

I have Toshiba satellite L500 laptop with windows 7 home premium.

I will be happy to hear any other solutions for the WiFi problem too.

regards

More than likely the wireless connection software that came preinstalled on your Toshiba lap top is causing the problem. It's best to uninstall the wireless connection software and let Windows handle the connection for you.

You may need to go into the Wireless profile manager and make sure the settings are correct. Windows 7 likes using WPA-2 and AES encryption.

Just open the Network and Sharing center, it's on the left side of screen. You can also access your network connections and open up the IPv4 properties to make sure you have DHCP enabled.

Use the router for DNS access not IPv4.
