There is news that can not be circumvented party. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 put into production!

Final assembly began 6.1.7600.16386.​

Both phases of product will be available to partners, corporate customers, finally, everyone.
Details on these stages and when you can learn here.
I will separately point out that all TechNet and MSDN subscribers can download the distributions are already on 6 August.

Nothing new here. Checkout Development of Windows Vista - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - you'll see Vista RTM'd on Nov 1st, 2006 and became available on MSDN on Nov 16th, 2006. 15 days.

No, we just want it made available through Technet. That will happen soon enough.

It is interesting that an un-sourced rumor gets all the people who know the RTM version is 16385 riled up all over again.

Sort of like banging on the side of an aquarium and watching all the fish dart around.

MS Employee of 12 years, clearly states the following:

I’m off to download the bits internally and upgrade my machines. The final geek kudos for Windows 7 is getting the RTM bits installed before you buddies. Sad but true. The final build number for Long and others is 7600.16385.090713-1255

We don't need any more FUD being spread.
