One of my friends yesterday asked me to install Windows 7 on his PC. But I am not sure that whether it will suit or unsuit on his PC. His Minimum System Info :

1.RAM : 2.98 GB
2.Processor : Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz

Dxdiag Info :

------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: - Pastebin.com

Please kindly mention that which version of Windows 7 I should install on his PC? (e.g. Win 7 32/64 bit)

Note : I've seen the system requirements on Windows 7,still I am unsure.

Welcome to Seven Forums, Sir Dark Knight. Your friend could have asked this question himself. He would have given full details of his System.

Most likely it shall work but you should download and check with Microsoft's Window 7 advisor to be absolutely sure. It is available at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/upgrade-advisor

The processor might not be 64bit capable,. you'll be safe going for Windows Home Premium 32bit

Been looking on Intel's website. It looks like they had three Celeron processors that were 2.53 GHz. The two more common ones were 32-bit, and the other was 64-bit. The one your friend has is most like 32-bit. Everything else considered, I would say go with 32-bit Home Premium. I can't remember if you need internet to run the update readiness tool or not. Running it on the computer is the best way to know if it is Windows 7 compatible or not.

Final question : Should I use Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Ultimate(32 bit)

Premium unless you will need features available only with Professional or Ultimate.

Here is what Ultimate has that is not available in Professional:

BitLocker, BitLocker To Go, AppLocker, Direct Access, Branche Cache, MUI language packs, boot from VHD.

Here is what Professional has that is not available in Home Premium:

Domain join, Remote Desktop host, location aware printing, EFS, Mobility Center, Presentation Mode, Offline Folders, Group Policy (GP) controls, advanced backup, XP Mode, support for 192 GB of RAM, and support for 2 CPU sockets.

If you don't know what those features are, you aren't likely to need them.

Did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor as requested?

There's no point in buying Windows 7 if your computer won't run it.
