Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Hi,

This error happened to me just now and my PC blackout and restarted on its own. And i was told that my driver is outdated. How can i check or fix this?

Please post your full computer specs.

Without even knowing which graphics card you have, we cannot give good advice as to where to get a driver that doesn't crash your computer.

Have a look here and select your computer from the model list. I would think you need the Intel VGA driver.

So i just install by clicking "setup" and everything done problem solved?

Best to right-click setup then choose Run as Administrator. It should then install without a problem other than you may need to restart your computer.

I just installed by double click yesterday and all the installation is done. Will that be ok and fine for now?

Anyway what is wrong with the driver actually? I have been using the same computer for more than a year and nothing happened last time.

Yes, everything should be OK now.

As to why you were informed you needed a driver update, you can probably thank the Windows 7 driver database for that. It is constantly being updated with new drivers, which in many cases can be pushed to you via Windows Updates.

There's nothing to worry about. Just look at it as Windows 7 looking after your system.

So when will i encounter the same problem again? Howcome the Windows Updates did not fix or update the Driver before that?

All being well, you shouldn't experience any further problems on this score.

Windows Updates can only push the updates that Microsoft and hardware manufacturer's provide, so it can hardly be blamed if such updates prove to be problematic.

If ever you download a driver that doesn't work properly you can always go into Device Manager and roll back to the previous version.

Whenever manufacturers release a new driver it may not have been fully tested first and you may ask why.

Well, the more cynical amongst us would say that it's cheaper for us 'volunteers' to test a new driver and report any bugs than it is for the manufacturer to employ their own test engineers.

Generally speaking, there's no real need to update a driver if your hardware is performing satisfactorily and there's no mileage in having the latest driver just because you want the latest of everything.

If what you have is working satisfactorily, my advice is to leave well alone.

As for updates from Microsoft, just check each one before you install it.

No, it's not.

If the graphics card had physically failed you would have known it and no matter which driver you install would have cured it.

The message you saw relates to the driver so it was software related, not hardware related.

If everythings is running OK now, just stop worrying and enjoy your computer.

No he's saying if you have a Outdated Driver with no issue like i have a outdated Audio driver but my System is stable in games so don't update to the latest Driver because you want it and for the updates check each update so you know what you are installing before doing it that's all.

I always update when it prompt me to do so. I never bother to check what kind of update is it. I wonder is this fine?
