I have Win 7 Pro 64 bit on one hard drive and Win Ultimate 32 bit on another HD.

I will be replacing two smaller existing back up HD's for one of larger capacity and would like to use it to back up both of the above.

Is it possible?

It so can some kind person/expert advise in easy to understand language how I go about it.

Thanks in anticipation....

Hello Topspin,

Yes you can, but it also depends on if you are wanting to do a system image backup and/or a Windows Backup. A system image would include both of the Windows 7 installations, so there would not be a need to create a separate system image backup in each Windows 7 instalaltion. Either way, both can be backed up to the same new larger HDD.

If you have further questions, then please just let me know. :)

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Are these on separate PC or on the same one?

If they are separate you would be better off not using Windows Imaging as you will get a name clash if you try to backup separately. You would be better off using a third party product such as Macrium Refkect where you can chose what to image and to have each machines backup in a separate folder.

Ah OK. I don't do dual booting so I don't know how Windows Backup handles it. I would think that you would still get a more flexible backup strategy with Macrium or another third party solution as you have complete control over what partitions/drives to backup, with what frequency and where you store the backups.
