Solved Win7 keeps going to the login screen when idle for a while

Hi all

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed and am having a problem with the machine going to the login screen when the machines is idle for a while. I don't have to set to do that. Sleep and hibernate are both set to Never, and there is no screen saver in use at this time. It is very annoying to have to keep logging back in after the machine has been idle for only a short time. And no matter what I set where is still does it.

Any suggestions on what I need to set to prevent it from doing this would be very much appreciated.

Is your screen saver set to (None) or Blank ?
If it's set to Blank, change it to (None).

In addition, double check to make sure that you uncheck the On resume, display logon screen box in Screen Saver Settings. If checked, it will still lock the computer automatically to the log on screen even with (None) selected for screen saver.

Hi Shawn, thank you for your assistance. Yes, that box was checked. I had unchecked it at the beginning as it is a new computer, but, I did have to do a system restore at one point and it obviously went back to before unchecked it. As there is no screen saver selected, and the On resume is now unchecked, the idle time is now grayed out. So I have now unchecked it again and will see if that works. I will post back and let you know if it holds.

Yeah, if it was checked, then that most likely was the cause.

The unchecking the box EVEN THO SCREEN SAVER WAS NONE did the trick for me! Thanks!
