Can't Share a Folder to specific users on a Domain, only to "Everyone"
Hello Everyone,
I have an issue with Sharing a Folder on a Windows SBS 2011 Domain.
On my Windows 7 Client Computer I want to Share one particular folder, but not with "Everybody". Instead I just want to share the Folder with one colleague - Brendon.
Toward this end I enabled Sharing on the folder and gave Brendon permission to access the share as follows:
As you can see above I have given Brendon complete access to the Share!
Additionally in the Security Settings I gave Brendon complete access - like so;
*** Notice above that I have hidden the surname of my colleague, but otherwise all details are clearly represented ***
As can be seen Brendon has "Full control" under the Security Tab.
Given the above settings I expected that Brendon would be able to access the Shared folder (which is located on my workstation).
However when attempting to look at the Share from Brendon's computer we were met with the following message:
Because I couldn't specifically give Brendon access I chose to apply the "Everyone" group to both the Share & Security tabs -
Now Brendon can access the Shared Folder but so can everybody else, which isn't the desired outcome.
I don't understand why this is happening, because the "Everyone" group contains Domain Users, and Brendon is also a Domain User.
If anybody can shed some light on what I am missing and help me to restrict Shared Folder access to specific users it will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo
