What don't you like about Windows 7?

I like chocolate, and when I put it in my eyes, I cannot see well. So, no eye-candy for me.

As a general principle (GP), the greatest amount of information available in a single glance.
Precisely.

Heres one more image, my private accounts full taskbar. This way I can also change keyboard layout quickly; I need English, German and Finnish layouts daily. Pen Tablet is easily reachable from here, too.

Well, then I think you will be happy.
There IS a way to do it (I use it), and it is quite simple.
Open up Task Scheduler, and create a task for your statup program. Run it 'Run with Highest Priveledges".

Here is the tutorial.
Just make sure you substitute the time with Log On (not startup!).

That people still call it Windows Vista SP3 and think it's as bad as vista in every sense. That's what all mac forums i frequent say(macrumors anyone?). And if you dare to be open-minded, you get trashed with the whole "we dont get a virus" and "your pc is a civic while our macs are bmw's mercedes benz Lexus" and so on.
Oh well, one more thing about Windows 7 i don't like is the 3d taskbar(super bar now?). Yes, it is way better but everything gets clogged in there. If you're on a laptop and have many windows open in a separate window, everything gets pushed to a single icon instead of multiple ones(unless there is an option i have overseen which is pretty likely so).
I think i got so used to xp, the change is taking more than it needs to.

I have played with the demo for Vista Start Menu. I am not 100% satisfied, but it is a reasonable facsimile of what I want.

I had to resize the top of the menu down (drag) - it was defeating the purpose with the default layout.

I access it with a Systray icon (always shown).

That's why i press Shift+Delete to delete files permanently. It deletes instantly. However, it will delete the file permanently. ;)

It doesn't do any different delete than emptying the trash can. All shift delete does is skip the trash can and mark the files as deleted. You can still use Recuva or GetDataBack and recover the files. It does skip 1 move from current location to trash can, but moves are an extremely quick thing for an OS(same drive to same drive, which throwing in the trash is). It still has to go through each chunk on the drive and mark it as free.

+1 .. Thats why you're called The Lord of Bobs!!

This only solves the problem if you want it to start up with the computer. Say someone always wanted to run say Vegas Video, Photoshop, Visual Studio, some game in Administrative mode. I don't want them starting when I log into the computer, so I will still be forced to ctrl+shift+click something to start it in admin mode (or right click and say run as administrator). I like the idea of an always allow this digitally signed program, with matching hashes, to run without me having to give permission. Similar to many of the Microsoft assemblies/libraries etc which always run in Admin mode.

I just really don't like the new user interface. I'm fine with the explorer in Windows XP, but this I think just makes it very unhandy you don't have the 'file/edit/view' anymore. When you are looking for just one option more from the 'new' so-called quick stuff, you need to look all around it is just very unhandy. I would prefer a total windows xp skin:D.

have you checked out blackviper?

it's not a perfect list yet, but you may learn a bit more about services to disable, or better yet, switch to manual so they only start if an app requests it.

Is it just me or is the blackviper site down?
It wont load at all in firefox or ie8

the only thing i dont like about windows 7 (and vista) is the lack of the up,cut, copy, paste toolbar in the explorer...i used them a lot in XP and it felt pretty much faster than right clicking and doing the same. The keyboard shortcuts are fast but i rely mostly on mouse than a keyboard.also the 'up' tab is much faster than breadcrumbs.

Don't like Windows Explorer since XP either. There are some improvements like showing the amounts of items and a few others, but all that autosort stuff and changing views automatically made me going back from Vista to XP. And in Windows 7 it doesn't seem to be different from Vista.

One thing that made a big difference for me in making explorer better in 7 was to download the free "Ultimate Windows Tweaker" app (very cool app btw, now optimized for 7) Ultimate Windows Tweaker v2, a Tweak UI for Windows 7 & Vista | The Windows Club

and (among many other tweaks), it has some check boxes under "additional tweaks" that allow you to easily add (or subsequently remove) "Move to folder," "Copy to folder" and "Take Ownership" to the explorer right click context menu. I find these to be very convenient to have and use them all the time.
