Hi,

My workstation has a laptop, with docking station and second LCD screen, I guess this is a very popular workstation setup. I have setup my station so that my LCD screen is my primary display, with my desktop extending to my laptop screen when my computer is docked. When undocked my laptop screen automatically becomes the primary.

I have a nice setup where certain icons (many programs which I would only use at my workstation) are on my extended screen. And a nice logical organisation of icons on my primary LCD.

The problem is that my settings always revert (and sometimes behave unpredictably) when i undock and redock, sometimes also when I shut down (esp if I should down undocked and restart docked, or vice versa). Mostly the icon arrangement goes back to the default (organised to the left side of the primary display). Sometimes other things happen too, like this morning I'm docked and my laptop screen is no longer park of my desktop.

Of course I can always readjust the settings, but doing this daily (or everytime I redock) becomes very laborious. Is there a way to set up a display profile, for docked and undocked and ensure it remains constant

Tnx

The icon arrangement in windows is saved when shutting down your PC. If you undock your laptop without shutting it down the icons will reorganize to the way it was at the first startup.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but this program I use regularly is called "X-Mouse Button Control v2.4" and it has an option to "Save desktop icon layout". Then you could just restore the layout each time you are docked! (this program also has many other useful features)
