Because I am relatively new, at upgrading OS, I have a question about my 7 upgrade disk, which I will receive in Oct. While upgrading, one question that I will be asked is about the number of partions or drives that I desire. My choices will show C, D (restoration drive) and E and F (DVD drives). I do not care to multiboot etc. How do I answer the question? Do I just hit next on the screen, or do I delete D, E and F and then hit next? I of course, after (clean upgrade) I want a restoration drive and DVD drives, just like, I have now on Vista Home Premium. If I delete all but C, will the OS, replace the restoration and DVD drives? How many GB, do I need on C, devoted to 7?

Your restoration drive (D) Would not do you any good, as you will not be restoring to Windows 7 if you use it. If you have vista now, then you need to delete this partition, and add it to the C drive, or keep it if you would rather save the hassle. When you install 7 you will not have to worry about your files, because it will ask if you want to import from your previous OS.

I hope I helped, Any more questions, PM me and I will help.

While upgrading, one question that I will be asked is about the number of partions or drives that I desire. My choices will show C, D (restoration drive) and E and F (DVD drives).
so you have it in this order
Hard disks
----------
C
D (restore drive)

DVD Drives
-----------
E
F

if this true then it wont show E or F (actually all it does is show any partitions the any drive it can detect has...)
so all it will show is C and D

I do not care to multiboot etc. How do I answer the question? Do I just hit next on the screen, or do I delete D, E and F and then hit next? I of course, after (clean upgrade) I want a restoration drive and DVD drives, just like, I have now on Vista Home Premium.

ok so is this is a OEM partitioned drive (meaning D has a restore image)?
if so do you want to keep that recovery image?
if so format and make that a the base backup image for Windows 7 (where everything has been setup just the way you like it) and put that in a backup...

If I delete all but C, will the OS, replace the restoration and DVD drives?
look at my response above

How many GB, do I need on C, devoted to 7?
it should take as much as vista (if not less...;))
of course the final amount depends on what you install and move or copy to that drive
