Hi,

Is the last partition on the picture the drive you want to install win7 to?

And if yes, what's on that drive now? I mean OS? or just files?

This sure doesn't seem right...

Unless you have a good friend that DL and installed the exact same iso,

I think I'd look for another iso to DL, without "YOMOFOS" in the title. :roflmao:

These seem to install pretty good:

OOooops, almost goofed.... :D

What format on the drive did you use (ntfs, fat, fat32), would expect ntfs; if yes did you use Quick Format or normal? Also, at what speed did you burn your installation at; some people here on the forums had a program when burning at max speed, thus causing them install problems similar to yours.

Welcome to SF. :D

At the partition screen you should see a link saying Drive Options, click on that and you get to delete, format partitions.

yeh but it wont say full or Quick, its just format which takes only few sec's which mean quick-format(i can be wrong).
If i delete that drive will it show up on setup after refresh so i can format it then?
and btw isnt better if i install it from USB so i can eliminate Burn speed problem?

I think the error message speaks for its self.
Has nothing to do with burning the dvd imho.

You spoke about drive c:. On the screenshot we only see drive 0, 1 and so forth.

Which drive in the screenshot are you trying to install Win7 on?

Oh, and which Partition?

Have you tried delete it instead of format already?

And yes, when you delete it, it will still show for you to select.

Windows setup will recreate and format it without you seeing it formatting.

Good luck

Your guess is 100% correct -- I'm totally new at all this scene/torrenting stuff.
AND, I've never heard of, nor seen that particular iso on SevenForums.

Since this is a valid iso, used by the community with total success, the problem then seems to lie with your attempted installation.

Your photo shows 3 HDDs.
You said you formatted the drive with Vista on it.
The picture indicates that Disk_1, partition_2 was formatted as Primary, 48 GB.

The error message says "Setup was unable to use the existing system partition because it does contain the required free space."

I would interpret that as meaning:
In order to install Win 7 anywhere, Setup has to copy files from the iso
to begin the installation process.
My experience with all installs, is that he copies those files to (normally) C:\, the "System" drive.

Your "System" partition indicates only 5 MB free -- that's your "Disk_1 Partition_1:Lost".

So, I would guess that is what the problem is:
Insufficient space available on "Disk_1 Partition_1:Lost", for Setup to copy the installation files....

But, with a Total size of 109 MB, it looks like that won't happen.

i feared that but i didnt face this problem with Vista!
so the solution would be to add same 8Gigs to that drive enabling setup to save instillation files on it, but can i invert back the size hence will i need those files again.

That's probably because you last had XP..
I never did Vista, but I think he's the reason for that weird 109 MB System partition.

I would think so, but the 109 MB is "special", giving you the new error message, on the Merge attempts.
AND, I think it's gonna have to be more than 8 GB..
but can i invert back the size hence will i need those files again.
I have absolutely NO Vista experience, and can't even venture an opinion on that.
Best that I drop off, and leave it to the forum's Vista gurus.
Good luck, I'm sure its "do-able", but needs a careful sequence-of-events to be followed.

Bought the Dell secondhand for cheap and upgraded cpu, vga, ram, soundcard, psu and HDD's.
that weird partition used to have XP on it and then i split it to 2 partitions and installed vista on 2nd before removing XP and resizing its partition. so basically that drive was primary hence system partition.
