I continually get BSODs while watching TV on Windows Media Player. I have two Pinnacle USB TV tuners that come into my computer. They are models 800e and 801e, respectively. The error very often happens when I am on the preview screen for recorded TV. Most often it is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, although it can be MEMORY_MANAGEMENT as well.

System specs are as follows:

OS Windows 7 x64 CPU Intel Core i7 960 @ 3.20ghz Motherboard MSI X58M Memory 12GB Graphics Card(s) Nvidia g210 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SychMaster B2230 Screen Resolution N/A Hard Drives Hitachi HDS721010CLA322 ATA (Master) 1TB
Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB (Slave)

Did I post something wrong? Is the .zip file posted right so people can read it?

Welcome to the forum,

Try running the tool again and click each of the buttons, there is only one item in your folder and no dumps.

Our BSOD guys have been pretty busy, but someone will get to you as soon as they can.

Hello RyanHostetler and welcome to Sevenforums.

Things we need

  • A nfo file
    • To get this: Start Menu -> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box -> When it opens, go to File, Save -> Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember -> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info -> Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder -> Upload the .zip file here.
  • Do you have any newer dumps? The crash dumps seems quite old.

BSOD Analyse

Looking at your bugcheck it's likely that a memory corruption event was triggered. Though a driver could be causing the memory to be borked, but we're usually suggesting a memory test before moving forward. Do a scan with Memtest86+. Memtest is a scanner that'll check your sticks for errors.

   Warning
:info: Note that the below instructions may break your WARRANTY rules. If you're unsure check manuals, separated warranty papers, stickers on computer for secure permission.

To ensure that we'll know if it's the slots on the motherboard that's broken, or the sticks itself - we have a little procedure we'll recommend. Remove 1 stick, scan the other with Memtest in the current slot. After 7 passes, move the stick to another slot and scan, and so on and so forth until you've scanned all the sticks, and all the slots, one by one.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Are you using a TV-Tuner? If yes, have you checked that it's not a known BSOD causer? Demanding devices might be causers.

I am almost positive that my two TV tuners are causing the BSODs, I just don't know what to do about it. How would I check to see if they're know BSOD causers?

New dump files have been loaded. I can't in any way seem to get the msinfo32.nfo file to save or to zip. I am told that it isn't readable...

Disconnect the device, go to Device Manager, find it in there and Right-click - Properties - Driver-tab - Uninstall Driver. Now Right-click on the device itself and Uninstall the whole device.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

I'm confused. What do I do after I uninstall the driver and device? Honestly, my desktop's only real purpose to me is as a TV. Without the tuners, I have no use for it. Should I then reinstall?

After your uninstallation of the driver and the device is finished, reboot your PC and plug-in the tuner once again. Let Windows detect the driver.

Frederik.
