Can't access networked computers

I'm rebuilding my home network and I'm having a few issues.

First, My Laptop A can connect to my PC via the network and open all folders except one. It says "You do not have the permission to access this file"

Second, My PC can't access Laptop A at all. Error code 0x80070035 network path not found.

Third, Laptop B cannot Access the PC at all. Same error code as problem #2.

Finally, I connected a external hdd onto the router but no cpu seems to find it.

I know it's a lot of problems, but the network used to work in the past and it started doing all of this when I deleted some common picture files from the network, I tried putting them back on, but it doesn't change anything.

My end goal is to get a functionning network and put password restrictions on all files.

Thank you for your time.

O/S?

What operating system are you running? XP? Win7? You might want to make sure they are all on the same workgroup. The instructions are kinda different depending on the O/S.

Just click the start button and type in change workgroup, and follow the directions.

Thanks for the quick reply,

All CPU are running Win7 home prem x64.

The PC and Laptop A were on the same one, but laptop B was on a different one. They are now all on the same one.

Laptop B shows me the PC, but I cant access any folder. I get the "do not have permission on all folders" and Laptop A isn't there at all.

I can ping the PC from both laptops, but can't ping Laptop A " ping request could not find host" from PC and Laptop B.

Finally I can't ping Laptop B on PC and Laptop A for the same reason.

I know it's a lot of info but anything can help.

Thank You

Re-Start

Not just reboot. Shut them all down, install any updates if there are any, then turn them back on 1 by 1?

What is the model number of the router? Do you only have 1 router? Have you setup the router for wireless?

Hi,

Sorry about the long delay, but I was at work. I intend on changing my router in a nearby future, but the specs for now are:

1 router, it is set-up for wireless, but it keeps on crashing for no apparent reason. It can work fine for 3 days and the crash every 15 min for a week and work fine again for a couple of days. It's a D-link WBR-2310.

Thanks again

When you say 1 router for wireless, does that mean there is another router for the wired connection as in two routers in this single network?

It's only 1 router that handles all wired and wireless connections. I will try to check for plugged ventilation hole
