It appears on mine of course as I am participating - if I sign out it appears with a note to sign in to check availability - thanks MS :sarc:.

All I can suggest is to keep checking back and hopefully they will re-open the connection to new testers

Its.. not... fair! I'm already signed up for Windows 7 Beta/RC, MSE, Windows Azure. Oh well looks like I'm stuck waiting.

Thank you lordbob75, have been having the same problem with friends, they keep asking me for a copy. My oldest son (41) almost got on his knees, but being a dad it is easy to say no to a son/daughter, you started when they first learned to ask you for money.

I'm sure "In due course" it should appear on Technet for more testers to get it 100% legally.

Can anybody tell me if it's been improved from the "leaked" version from around April / May.

I found the (at that time) white bland background horrible - not possible to customise it further - and didn't see any particular reason to upgrade from Office 2007. The only advantage at that time was the fact that a 64 bit version would eventually be available but for these types of applications it doesn't really matter if it's 32 / 64 bit since even a large spreadsheet is unlikely to test the resources of even a quite modest modern laptop.

However this was a very early probable even pre-alpha version so I hope its a lot better now.

Any testers out there -- significant differences from 2007 -- from the point of a Workstation user --not really interested in the "Windows Live" or "Corporate collaboration" pieces.

I'm waiting to see if I'm accepted. I won't touch a leaked version at this stage but I am looking forward to some of the improvements I have read about.I rely on Office heavily, particularly Outlook and One Note.

Look and feel has not really changed much from 2007 although the office button is now replaced with a more subtle tab , also it now allows you tom customize the ribbon - something that's been needed as everyone works differently.

Will try to put together some screen-shots and notes over the next week as I play with it more, and post back

Despite me wanting this so badly, I think I'll hold off on downloading a leaked version. I honestly lost my lust for leaked versions of anything. =|

Oh Um random but if anyone has an Xbox 360, go to htt://tr.im/livepreview and sign in with your Microsoft Connect account, you'll be asked to do an application to sign up for early access things on the xbox 360 (new dashboards, features, etc.)

Grats, makes me sad though. They accepted me into the Xbox Live Preview Update Program, but not for Office 2010.

May mean a wait but at least light at the end of the tunnel

Public Betas are not actually a new thing for Microsoft, but office has normally only been available to private testers, during the development stage. I believe the sucess of the Windows 7 Beta and the changes in personelle at the top of Microsoft will mean that "public" testing may well become the norm in future
