7000 x64 Fixed my crackle :)

The analouge speaker crackle that has plagued me since 6801 appears to be rectified in the x64 version of build 7000

The chipset inf and the audio drivers are the same as I 've used before. The only difference is using the x64 version. I can only assume that the drivers are more x64 friendly in 7 than they were with the x86 version.

(they are XP/VISTA x86/x64 multi drivers)

Either way, I'm happy

Bah, I got too excited to soon. I've swapped the crackles for freezing / crashing /stuck sound loops

Gaming with this card is almost impossible ATM.

lol Unfortunately no. It happened to me with 8.12 once or twice last night playing Fallout 3. However I installed Far Cry2 today and was experiencing weird sound glitches preceding these crashes, (clipped sounds, missing sounds) which tends to point towards the sound drivers.

I'm not ruling out the ATI drivers though

I actually just lodged a ticket with Auzentech, but I'm not holding my breath.

UPDATE:

Lucky I didn't hold my breath. Still no response from Auzentech

95% certain it's driver cmudax3.sys that's giving me grief. I'm going to try removing my card and go back to onboard audio and see if that helps.

lol. No I had to install the drivers myself as windows didn't have any that worked with my card.

I think I'm getting past the vanilla stage too. Don't know what flavor I'm at yet

I'm just trying out the onboard now. If I remember correctly it's realtek HD....

raealtek should work OOB as i have them in as the default ( the oob drivers)...

the other realtec (is it realtec or realtek??) drivers where no good for me though...

Realtek Drivers 2.10 and onwards are fine and have full functionality with sound manager, I am using 2.14 now.

So far things seem to be working. no crashes etc.

Unfortunately since I'm using Realtek Digital Output(RCA) I have lost 5.1 surround in games

Is it possible to have my onboard sound enabled in BIOS as well as having my PCI card physically installed?

So when in Vista, I can use my auezentch with on board disabled in device manager and use the on board in Seven with the Auezentech disabled?

I can see nothing but conflicts.... but I miss my card already

You should be able to right click on the speaker in the system tray and go to playback devices and set the default device from there.

Unfortunately, since I connect to my receiver via coax cable from the RCA plug, I don't have that option.

Sorry to hear that Smarteyeball, you could always buy yourself a nice set of USB headphones, that's what I use now and they are so much better than your normal headphone jack type.

The problem is that I use my comp to watch a lot of d/l TV shows with my girlfriend and the majority of those d/l are 2 ch output. With my PCI card, I can upmix 2ch output to 5.1 DTS output. it's the main reason I bought the card. Stereo just doesn't cut it anymore

I think my plan of attack will be to test for a day or two with the onboard and see if I have any more crashes. If not, then I'll re-install the card and use the digital out on that and see if it crashes again. The onboard digital out and the cards digital out appear to function the same. ie no 5.1 in games

At least that way I'll still have a 'fully' functioning card in Vista and 'working' audio in Seven. I want to keep gaming in Seven though, the framerates are much better.

Hi Anthony, I did swap slots when I ran Build 6956 (no difference), but haven't in 7000. I might even remove my tuner card and swap slots again to see if it makes a difference.

Yes try it without tuner, Let us know how you go on.

Also check to see if the soundcard is sharing IRQ with any other devices.
