I've had this problem for years, since first upgrading to Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7.

After 2-3 weeks, Internet Explorer starts randomly choosing to disclude sites from its history, before reaching a point where it simply stops recording history. Yes, I HAVE all the settings properly adjusted so that it does not delete history upon exit, has an entire gigabyte of disk space reserved just for history, 400 days set to keep history, and it still ends up being a bi-monthly thing of me having to delete the history.

I've gone through countless sites and forums looking for answers,

History function not working in Internet Explorer 8 - Microsoft Answers

Why has history not been working in IE 9 for the last few days? - Microsoft Answers

IE 9 is not saving my browsing history. - Microsoft Answers

NOTHING works for me, not deleting index.dat and such.

This could be due to settings in internet properties.

Go to control panel, Network and Internet, Internet options.

Under browsing history click settings.

First under where it says (Check for newer versions of stored web pages) check Never.

Then underneath that where it sais History it should say Days to keep pages in history 20. change this to a number such as 365 (which would keep history for a year).

Alternatively upgrade to a better browser, Firefox and Google Chrome are good options being quicker than IE 9 and managing their own History usually not deleting history what so ever.

I think about this all the time, yet I always angrily dismiss it with the thinking that I shouldn't have to accept (unintentionaly) mediocrity of this magnitude, where my Firefox has history stretching back to 2008 and my primary browser can't manage more than a month!!!!!!!

I know IE is supposedly inferior, but having personally tried Opera (and still have Firefox as secondary) it has been my experience that IE, even IE9, has been consistently faster, less annoying, and easier to manage with other programs

I personally do think its best you are happy with the browser you are given, rather than choosing one just for the history, have u tried increasing the days to keep history as that should work.
