OK,

I have ungrouped my applications in the taskbar by going to taskbar properties, and selecting the taskbar buttons to never combine, but I still have this:

When I open multiple instances of an application (i.e. 3 windows explorer windows and 3 IE windows) all of the like applications will stay together. When I try to move them on the task bar to the left or right, they all group together and move as a group and not individually.

How do I get the task bar items to display in the order they were opened and not group together?

oh... I have no items "pinned"
James

For me the solution was to check the small icons box as well.
For some reason this was the only way it would work right for me.

I have done as you have suggested and still, all like items are grouped together and are un-seperatable.

Welcome to Seven Forums jamesandjennie:party:

In the Taskbar properties dialog make sure you have it set as in the picture, and in Customize adjust each icon as you like, then check Always Show Icons and Notifications.

Anyone find a solution to this yet?

Britton30's answer is related to the system tray icons, not the window list in the task bar.

Is there a way to ungroup the windows in the task bar after selecting "Never combine" in the options dialog?

Have you tried the "Never Combine" option?

EDIT: Been looking at other forums and websites, and everyone has suggested the "Never Combine" option to stop program icons from grouping together.

You can try that or "combine when taskbar is full". That's usually what I use.
