Will Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium w/SP1 64-bit-System Builder License and Media - 1 PC take me from Vista 32 to Win 7 64?

With so many Win 7 products, upgrades its confusing. I onyl need to take 1 computer from vista 32 to Win 7 64. I'm trying to not buy the wrong item and waste $90.00.

Thanx in advance.

My PC is WIN 7 x64 ready. I just need to know if the above product will allow me to go from Vista 32 to Win 7 64. I'm inquiring about the product and if it does what i need it to.

It will allow it, but you'd have to do a Clean Install because you cannot upgrade x32 to x64. But I'm not completely sure that will upgrade it to x64. It might just upgrade to x32. Let me research and see what I can find.

It'll allow you to install Win 7. The old OS is irrelevant; you can use the System Builder copy on a blank hard drive. As it's not permitted to perform an upgrade-in-place from 32 bit windows to 64, you may as well backup the OS drive and reformat it.

In principle, a System Builder license is supposed to be used only on a system intended for resale:

Is it OK to use OEM Windows on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft | ZDNet

As far as I know, there is no enforcement of this. Newegg sells system builder licenses without any bundled hardware requirements.

So if i buy that above product and place it in my PC and run the disk, it will give me the option to custom install so I can do the clean install?

Yes it will. Your files will all be deleted and programs will too. So make sure you have a back up.
