Solved Which files in C drive can be removed?

I am looking to get rid of files in my C drive after a clean recovery install of Lenovo W520 - Windows 7 Professional with bunch of Lenovo applications. I updated all Windows update files and lenovo update files.

I see C:/SWTOOLS which looks like folders which I will not need anymore - my intuition. I also see one log file in C:/swshare folder which looks like it can go.

I wish I can remove SOME files and folders from Program Files, Files (x86), Program Data, and Windows folders as well. It's not that I need space right now but I don't want things that I don't need on my computer.

I used CCLeaner and ran it - standard setting only.

It's more of a personality than technical upgrade, if you will.

Just personal opinion and others may disagree. I'd suggest using the native Windows 7 Disk Cleanup utility and clicking the "Clean up system files" button. Rather than risk removing a necessary/critical file I'd let Disk Cleanup and CCleaner handle it and leave everything else alone.

If you really want to remove other files, I'd strongly suggest you make a system image. That way, if your machine becomes a large paperweight you'll have a way to get it back. As I said, just my 2 cents and others may well disagree.

Remove no files from the install, leave it alone.

Have a look at the control panel, in the programs and characteristics applet, and see from that list if there is any program you don't need and uninstall from there. Generally, it isn't a good idea to simply delete files unless you know what you're doing.

Run the Windows Disk Cleanup tool. After that and CCleaner leave everything else as it is.

How close did you get to the Best Practices to install and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7?

Steps are the same for retail.

If not close then I'd do it over and keep to the steps both for installing and then maintaining Win7 going forward as you will not have any problems as long as hardware is adequate and sound.
