Mem Management,Page fault BSODS + Memtest Errors

The manual is not very descriptive, however they will be installed into 2 dimms of the same color and it looks to me like the 2 black slots. The 2 closest to the CPU is what it looks like.

EDIT: How long ago since you bought the sticks from Microcenter?

Not 100% sure when i bought the sticks but its been over 2 months now, the 4gb sticks are the ones that have the issue. I ran the system on the 2gb sticks fine for months.

It is many times not a good practise to run different ram densities together. You will usually have a better time running either 2GB sticks or 4Gb sticks. Either should run OK, but together can cause some problems. Do I understand correctly? You can run memtest individually on either 4GB stick but not on both?

Well, i get bsods with only the 4gb sticks in... And ive run a total of 16 passes on each stick individually and never got errors but when they're together in dual channel i get errors before the 2nd pass is over.

Like essenbe has stated the manual leaves a lot to be desired. If the two slots are the same color I think you have them installed correctly. Thank for answering my question and the manual. I will have to do some thinking.

Well, I had an MSI board that did the same thing. I bought about 4 sets of ram for it. It would not run with any 4GB stick, but would run fine with 2GB sticks. I ended up RMA'ing the board. The replacement board was the same way. I ended up with an Asus board. But, Just for a gamble, put a 4GB stick in the first dimm slot and a 2GB stick in the second dimm slot. Slots 1 and 2. See what happens. Just a suggestion.

Also. On Monday call Crucial tech support and tell them your problems. You can probably get an RMA from them for the 4GB sticks and see if that helps, but I believe the problem is the board dimm slots.

What ever combination of ram you have installed lets take a look at Resource Monitor and see what Windows 7 sees ram to be. My understanding is Windows 7 get these reading from the motherboard.

Well Windows 7 is seeing a little over 12 gigs. Your hardware is low but that depends on what hardware you have. If you can RMA the ram go for it. Don't forget matched ram because they are test together to make sure they work nicely with each other.
NOTE! I do not like ImageShack because of all the extras is download. Some sort of screaming music now I have to run scans for infections.
Use the little paper clip at the top of you post to upload your things.

i was trying to avoid rma'ing but i guess thats the only solution? i just think it's weird that i only get memtest errors when they're in dual channel but individually no errors..... wouldnt that mean its more of a motherboard issue?

That's what it seems to me. We'll see when you get the sticks back from RMA. When you contact MSI, if that happens, they will tell you the ram is not on their QVL list, and that is the problem. It is not the problem. Look up the QVL list for the memory for that board.

It's a toss up. The motherboard is telling Windows 7 the correct information. I'm thinking the motherboard just doesn't really know what to do with that ram and the way the settings are. Things like this are more a trial and error method.
