Hi,

Hope someone can help because im lost on this one

I recently built an Ivybridge machine specs to follow, was working fine for a few days, then all of a sudden started getting random reboots but only during games, pc runs fine normally, run a game and then it just decides to reboot.

I dont get any blue screens at all and ive not changed any bios settings from defaults either.

Also i formatted the hard drive and fresh installed windows 7 as part of the install.

The only thing in the Event Viewer is a Kernel Power error but from what ive read up thats just a basic error it throws up when it cant find anything specific.

Powercool 650W PSU
ASRock Z77 Pro4 Motherboard (tested 2 identical motherboards)
Intel I5 3570K (Ivybridge)
16Gb Corsair Vengeance LP Ram
EVGA Nvidia 560 GT
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB Sata2 HDD (couldnt afford to replace that at present)

Now ive ran FuMark for 15mins with the Xtreme Burn in enabled, and it was absolutely fine, GPU load was 99% for 15 mins, highest temp it got to was 79c.

Ran memtest for a few hours, all passed ok

Any help is appreciated

Check:

C:\Windows\Minidump

You can change the C:\ partition letter for the letter of the partition in which you installed Windows 7 on.

Welcome aboard. Please post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.
Do you want me to do this despite never recieving a BSOD? If so ill do it when I get home from work not a problem
Other than the crash dumps only, the SF Diag tool output gives us a lot of information that is helpful to understand your system and the current situation. Such as MSINFO.nfo file, even log etc a lot of information which we need to say anything helpful to you.

You have a crash or not, run the SF Diag too, press the grab all button, and upload the output.

Did you download Display Fusion from Binary Fortress as suggested within the link?

iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer, as you have rightly just said; please could perform a full scan of your system with MSE to check for any malicious programs or hidden processes which may be causing a reboot.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Run the System File Checker too, and if any corrupted files or other problems are found, then keep running the program 3 separate times with a reboot in between.

Try the suggestion in my last post (Driver Verifier), and what are your hardware temperatures when playing games?

CPUID Hardware Monitor

The computer may be resetting itself, when one of the components is getting too hot, in order to avoid any damage to the system.

Updated your drivers for graphics card?

Hi,

Ive already monitored this prior to formatting, my stock intel cooler wasnt working correctly and the temps on the cpu were getting high, ive since replaced the cooler and temps are fine again, thats cpu, ram and gpu

Updated graphics drivers directly from nvidias website and currently got driver verifier enabled - ive got a new power supply coming tomorrow as well

What are the temperatures now (in figures)?

Have you updated your graphics card and chipset drivers? From the DriverList log file, some of the graphics card drivers related to a different graphics card and were dated at 2009.

Have you ran Driver Verifier?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html

I have updated my graphics card drivers, and i downloaded everything available from AsRock's website, but ill do it again just to be sure.
