Back to Vista (or XP) – (rant)

Or why I cant/wont use W7. Auto Arrange. I see it’s been discussed here (http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/2235-auto-arrange.html) and elsewhere, and there is apparently no fix.
It’s so simple, it’s so stupid not to allow one to drag a file off to the side of an open folder and park it for quick/easy recall. I know… just drag it onto the desktop ect. I have no problem once I close then reopen a file its rearranges. I can live/appreciate that. There are times I drag a file into an open folder and not pay attention to file name and now it’s lost instantly among possibly hundreds of other files. There are many other reasons I HATE AUTO ARRANGE but by know you’re tired of my rant.
I was so looking forward to W7. We all know about Vistas issues. I passed by Vista and been with XP for to long now… I thought finally… one OS to suite all my needs. So MS, are you listening? FIX AUTOARRANGE so I have a use for my pre-ordered CD once it finally arrives.

Simply put why do you not "TURN AUTO ARRANGE =OFF"

 because it only works on the desktop, not inside folders!

Its funny how worked up people get over stuff like this.

If someone has a complaint about the OS, and it appears they are trolling, why post? To add to it and fuel it? I think this thread should end here personally as it is getting no where fast.

I'll sum it up for everyone too;

1. If you don't like something in a new OS, either get over it and use it, find a workaround, or stick with what you like.

2. If someones trolling, DO NOT ADD TO IT. It makes them more likely to do it more here. (not saying that anyone on this thread was trolling)

Now, I've said my part. :)

how to find the file you can't remember the name of

Change view to details instead of icons and then sort on "Date Modified" on the Title bar (just click and it auto arranges in Newest to oldest order or click again and it Auto arranges in Oldest to newest. The file you can't remember the name of should be at the top of the list after you copy/move it.

You can sort on any column and even add other columns by right clicking on the title bar and adding columns to show. This really isn't that hard to work around and/or find files you have changed and can't remember the name of. You might also want to use paper and pencil to WRITE the name down if you have a problem remembering the name, again not hard to work around.

If you don't like Win7 then don't use it. If you like XP use it. Its your decision after all and the only person who will be effected is you.

I'm just tired of this 7 vs XP "bullsh*t" competition...
I don't know...in a way once you get used to using something it's nice when it stays the same. And by posting complaints in a forum like this, it gives the collective community the ability to correct the problem if it's just a misunderstanding on the part of the original poster.

Overall though, it's just too darn bad that you don't have the choice to change it back if that's really the way you want it. On the flip side though, if Microsoft were to retain the ability to change it back to X number of previous versions we would all complain at how large the installation of the OS is.

Overall, you just cannot please everybody all of the time. Either you get used to it or just use something else. But I don't mind when somebody posts something negative...as long as they are accurate in their assessment of the problem.

Thanks, I generally tend to use detailed view all the time so wasn't sure about that although if I had thought about it, it is obvious isn't it.
