I have been building a few PC's over the last few months and ive been using small Gb (60 or 64) SSD Drives and the speed and performance gain is unexplainable!! So sweet so fast and smooth!
I did an older system with of all things a PC Chips motherboard ( i know old school huh?) an AMD 2.1Ghz dual core and 1.5gb ram and it ran super sweet, no lagging or dragging or waiting for ever for it to do things.
Now i just finished a Wipe and reinstall on a system with way better specs
(Core 2 Extreme Quad Core CPU Q6850 @ 3.00GHz and with only 3gb Corsair SLI ram) and a 300Gb sata drive and even though its still fast it seems choked to me, no where near as crisp and smooth as the much slower older system that was also starving for ram.
So as i think about this being an AMD guy i wonder is it just the intel CPU? is it just the Sata drive? Maybe its because i have 3Gb SLI ram (had 4 but one stick is unstable) that is NOT running in SLI Dual Channel mode?
Anyhow just thought i would mention this and see what kinda responce or ideas others may have here??
No matter what it is im still sticking with SSD drives from now on no matter what!! i love that with use of the tutorials here on W7F im able to make my ssd systems boot in 22 seconds or less and shut down in 2-3 seconds,,, so cool!
2 pics 1st one is the PC Chips System 2nd is the intel
