bad sectors in hard disk, WHAT TO DO

my computer has become so slow and frozen every time i do any work,, i run the scan disk using the command chkdsk and i get the report after the computer reboots , i saw the report and it seems i have bad sectors , should i change my hard disk or is there any way to repair the bad sectors,

Bad sectors cannot be repaired, get a new hard drive.

Some folks might point you to SpinRite -- and claim it can repair bad sectors; but actually, it can't.

Certainly, a new drive is the way to go, and the sooner you get one, the less additional damage/corruption will happen on your current drive, and the better the chance that you'll be able to save everything.

All chkdsk does when it "repairs" bad sectors is mark them as bad so the disk doesn't use them. They're still bad - physically bad. Once a drive starts having errors, it will get worse over time. Either the heads will be damaged or the platter or both.

If you do nothing else, back up your data now!

I concur with my esteemed colleagues - get a new drive as soon as you can .

YES , you are right guys, thereis no way to repaire Bad sectors, in my case it gets worse, when I checked my HDD by some software tools besides checking it using chkdsk , it says it has more than 334 bad sectors and the software is only able to recover 166,, so it is just a waste of time trying to repair the bad sectors, I have already order a new HDD 500GB, and waiting for it to install EVERYTHING,,, my worry now can i install my windows as genuine one using the COA sticker , my hardware is changed as I am installing new HDD..
YOU CAN SEE IN THE TWO PICTURES THE RIGHT ONE WITH SOFTWARE TOOLS AND THE LEFT ONE USING CHKDSK commaned.

No need to worry - since you are not changing the motherboard, you won't have a problem installing and activating using the COA key.

Hi Golden, thanks lots for the reply,, i have just posted another thread about this, i thought the right place for my question is not here.. any way i have a problem when i installed the latest official Win7 installer ISO with SP1 from microsoft web site,, and then i burned it using windows7 tool buut after the burn finished , i checked the DVD and found that ,the DVD shows 0 byets used and 0 bytes free, what do you think the problem, do you think i should download the win7 installer iso for w7 home preimum again.....

by the way i found the problem for why my original windfows was so slow ,it was due to the HDD bad sectores and i did mistake when i thought factory restore will solve my problem . and insted of sloving the problem i lost my factory restore option after installing the fresh w7 professional,, we r always learning

I'd probably download it again and maybe try another burner. ImgBurn is highly regarded. Use a relatively slow burn speed and a high quality blank disc.

I have another Question, when i install a new windows what is the best way to partition my new HardDisk, it is 500GB HardDisk.... can i partition it using W7 installation disk...

Yes, you can partition during install. There are a few ways, try this:

I recommend 100GB for System Reserved + System partition, the rest for Data partition.

the way u suggested for partition is for the harddisk which has w7 installed alreday, in my case my harddisk is new and i am going to install to new w7 , can i make a pratition before starting installing the w7

New hard drives are not formatted from the factory.

You won't need to format the Windows partition. It will be done automatically during the Windows installation.

You will need to format any other partitions you may have, but you can do that with Windows Disk Management after you install Windows to C.
