Hello everyone,

After my HP pavilion g6 crashed the other day, I bought a new and upgraded hard disk, Samsung 830 SSD.

Had not burned the HP recovery discs, so I downloaded and ISO with Windows 7 to be able to boot the computer.

The HP won't boot:

Windows failed to start.
File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe
Status: 0xc0000001
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

The ISO dvd is fine, I checked it on another computer.

I ave been searching a dozen of fora but so far with no luck.

Could somebody point me in the right direction? Any help is welcome and much appreciated.

Greetings from DK,
AL

Thanks for your reply :)

I did in fact burn it at a low speed (as was recommanded in another thread) and yes it is the ISO from Digital River.

Is that the error you get when trying to boot from the burnt disc?

or an error simply trying to load Windows.

After installing the ned SSD harddisk I tested the drive and the memory in the option the bios provides.

Both test showed that there is nothing wrong there.

Could it be that an HP pavilion notebook has difficulties with a Samsung harddisk?

No, as long as they are the same dimensions, the make does not matter.

If you can , try to boot the ISO image using a virtual machine. Does this provide the same error? If so then I would put money on the ISO being the issue rather than the hardware of your machine

Also just to be clear, you have checked that you are using the correct architecture? (32-bit and 64-bit)

Many thanks,
Josh

Thanks for all the replies sofar, much appreciated that people are trying to help with

this issue, even though I haven't found out what can be the problem :)

To Josh: yes I was aware of the 32-64 bit difference when I downloaded the ISO.

Could there be something wrong with another part of te computer (besides the hard drive that I replaced and the memory that passed a test) with the message I mentioned earlier:

Windows failed to start.
File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe
Status: 0xc0000001
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

I am starting to get a bit worried with all the time I have spent on the
issue so far ...
