Okay, sounds good!
Did you even bother with trying to clone the old drive to the new? Or did you try and find it wouldn't clone?
In some cases it's really better to just go ahead with the reinstall anyway. If it was an old install and had seen its share of abuse over the years, or if the clone had trouble making a perfect copy, you would simply be transferring your old problems to your new drive. So you'd still have to go about fixing all of those issues, which you may or may not be successful with. With a reinstall the machine will perform like it did when it was new, maybe even better if you don't include the OEM's software that it may have come with.
