I have recently built a new computer and it has been working fine for a couple days until one day while trying to boot up i got a bsod. upon further investigation i found that i could not boot into safe mode, or from my windows disk, they all resulted in a bsod. I have also been getting 3 different types of bsod "bad pool header" "Irql not less or equal" and "page fault in nonpaged area." all these seem to point to faulty RAM, but i just want a second opinion before i try and return it.

MemTest86+ will help test the RAM modules and the DIMM slots on the motherboard; test each individual stick of RAM (run for 7 passes), if an error(s) are found then retest the same module in a different DIMM slot, if errors are found in every slot then you have a bad RAM module, however if no errors are found with the RAM module in a different motherboard slot, then you have a bad motherboard DIMM slot.

I dont see how those would help since it doesnt seem to be a virus (correct me if im wrong) and i cant boot into system recovery either, cant boot into anything i think. Also, is it possible for a DIMM slot to stop working after being fine for 2 days?

Status update: I was able to burn memtest to a disk, both disks failed in all slots, so Is it just my luck that both sticks happened to fail? Or is there something else I should be worrying about?

Did you test each RAM stick individually? If so, you probably do have faulty RAM, how old is the system?

He said he just built it, I am going to change the question a bit, how old is the RAM that you used, and was it new or old, and what brand is it?

Did you test each RAM stick individually, or did you test all the RAM sticks at the same time?

Have you phoned the manufacturer or whoever you brought the RAM and explained how you have found errors with the sticks using MemTest86+?

I tested each individually, and no i havent talked to corsair but the rma's are supposed to go through newegg anway. I just wanted to make sure i had the right culprit before i started sending stuff back. Do you think its safe to just send the ram back then?

Was it just one that was bad or both? Also on a personal note, from someone who used to swear by Corsair products, I have noticed over the last 3-4 years they have really let themselves go. I now mainly buy G-Skill, it is cheap and works really well.

It was both sticks, which is why it struck me as kind of odd which made me not ao sure it was the ram, but idk what else it could be, i might conaider buying g skill instead if it is for sure the ram

Have you checked the connector pins on your RAM to see if they are dirty or scratched, and make sure the pin connectors on the motherboard are straight.

I did that, im still wondering if these symptoms could be an error with another component? If not i'll just go ahead and get new RAM

If you post the information from your system dump, we might be able to help you isolate what is causing the problem.

Have you run the test with each RAM stick individually, sometimes if slot one is bad, it will show slot two as bad when it isn't. If you find one of them is good, you can try to boot into windows only using half your RAM.
