Running explorer in two-pane mode, I have a directory full of folders open in the left pane. I want to use the options mouse button (RMB for most) on all of the sub-folders in turn to see if the "Requires Administrative Privilege" icon appears.

Being methodical, I start at the top and RMB. The properties popup appears adjacent to the mouse, with its' left edge aligned (to the pixel) over the tip of the mouse.

Now comes my difficulty: To see the properties of the next folder down, I have to move the mouse pointer at least one pixel left, otherwise I'd be clicking in the properties popup.

Eventually, the mouse has moved so far to the left that I can no longer select the following folder...

I know that this is a trivial problem. I'm lucky enough that problems this trivial occupy my mind (nothing worse to obliterate them). I'd still like to know if there's a technique to avoid the occasional glitch in my steady progress through the sub-folders!

Press the Esc key between each RMB click?
That meets my requirement... thank you!

I needed to test it, to ensure there were no nasty side effects, and during my test I realised that I only have to press Esc when I'm starting to run out of room, with the actions menu moving ever leftwards...

Then I realised that, if I expanded the width (of the left pane in Explorer) then I could eliminate the Esc key by clicking to the right of the actions popup when I ran out of space on the left.

Overall, I'm going with the Esc key. (Explorer saves the size of that left-hand pane, so I'd have to narrow it back down again after using this trick).

This whole episode illustrates my responses to products. I'm far more influenced by annoyances than I am by additional features.
