Hi,

I've tried to find a solution but gave in and created an account. I'm a Mac guy so forgive me.

Back when I was a windows guy, I was the neighborhood cleaner. My neighbor gave me his dell that is BSOD.

The BSOD happens right after logging in; sometimes it will load the desktop but then automatically restart whereas other times it'l just restart and not load the desktop. This happens on all admin accounts; existing, new and super admin.

Safe mode works fine on all accounts without crashing.

Logs attached.

Thanks for the help.

-> When it opens, go to File, Save
-> Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember
-> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
-> Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
-> Upload the .zip file here.

Please upload your msinfo32.txt file.

To get this:

-> Start Menu
-> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box
-> When it opens, go to File, Export
-> Save as msinfo32.txt and save in a place you will remember
-> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
-> Right click the .txt file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
-> Upload the .zip file here.

Perform a clean boot:
Perform a System File Check:
  • Click on the start :orb:
  • Type CMD on Search
  • Left click and Run as Administrator
  • Type SFC /scannow
Full tutorial here:
What antivirus is on the computer?

Make scans with the following:

-Kaspersky TDSSKiller
-ESET online scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials.
Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
:ar: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Post back results.

Sorry but I think your neighbor should do a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

Since everything is fine in Safe mode, it should be a software problem.

Can you tell me what antivirus is being used? Any "Registry cleaners" or "Tweaking/Optimizers" are used on the PC?

I've tried to do a clean install, but since it's a Dell it never came with the W7 recovery discs, and if I build one from the "create system repair disc" option, it doesn't have all the necessary files. winload.exe is always missing.

edit: sorry, if I had checked your link first I would have found what I needed.

He was using both windows security essentials (I gave him from last time) and McAfee. No registry cleaners or tweakers being used.

I'm downloading the iso now and will be doing a clean install once I finish the download. I un-installed McAfee when I first got the computer since I thought that was causing a conflict using the tools above. I'll report back once the image is done and I do a clean install.

Thanks for your help koolkat
