Solved Accidental Used Diskpart - Clear Command. How To Revert

I have accidentaly used the 'clear' command of diskpart. I have tried Minitool Power Dat6a Recovery but I see my small partitions but not my main one? What can i do to get these back?

I have done that but it didnt find my main partition like i said in my first post

You wouldn't want to use Data Recovery (yet) but instead use Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help which is an undelete operation that's been proven to recover a partition after Clean Command.

After running it, only 3 out of my 4 are actually found! what cam i do about this

Make sure you run the Full Scan and not the Quick one. If it doesn't find a partition then I'd recover the partitions it does find, then try Partition Recovery Wizard followed by data recovery to see if you can find anything else.

Previously any disk wiped with Clean command was thought not to be recoverable - you can thank PW for what you did find.

I ran disktest (not the one you suggested. Ypurs is running now) and it didnt find my main one again. Could it be lost forever

use also "R-Studio.6.1" its the most powerful data recovery i have tried..

Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard is what has worked for this in the past.

Did you just say you haven't run it yet? Why not? You told me you were running it 16 hours ago.

As I said before I am no expert on this subject but I know enough to recognize an expert. When Greg offers advice I have found that it is best to follow it to the letter for best results irrespective of your personal choice!

Yh i too. Just i thouht it would be resolved quickly so i done the shorter one. I guess greg was right! It is at 10% now

"diskpart clean" only clears the first 1MB on physical disk. All data after 1MB is still there. Did you create all partitions in WIN7 or while installing WIN7? If so... all partition are created on 1MB boundaries so still there. You can recover 3 of 4 partitions with partition wizard (quick scan)? After they have been recovered try a full scan. It most likely finds a lot of "fake partitions" whith smal size about 3MB.... don't recover them!



Normally a auick scan works as follows:

1. Begin at start of disk.
2. Try to find a valid start of partition. Assume it's not corrupt. Now PW knows its size.
3. Skip to end of that partition
4. Goto step 2.

If all partition are adjacent after each other and no "unformatted space" is in between, it can find partitions very fast.

You are missing only first partition on disk? If so, use PW and recover partition using "unallocated space", "full scan"

Heres the Background Story -

I have a 1tb external hdd, which is partitioned into 4 parts, 1 main (about 750gb) 1 for ps3 (120gb) 1 for linux (4gb) and 1 for a 'shared area' between Win7 and linux. Everyone i have tried so far can only find the PS3, linux and the shared area. not the most important one aka Main one. I am running partition wizard full on every sector of the disk, it has found 4 3.01mb partitions labeled as 'boot'. It is at 14% (very slow)

So 3 of 4 partitions are back again. In partition wizard you can see them. Do you see the unallocated space on the left or right side in PW (or somewhere in the middle)?

How did you create partition MAIN?

It hasnt finished yet but the otger programs detected them and i restored them. The main partition was the original partition. I made all partitions woth easus partition software home edition

easus partition software home edition : You ran it from within win7? I assume it's located on left side in PW display?

In partition wizard:

1. select a partition that's succesfully recovered. I prefer a NTFS partition if available.
2. click "properties"
3. click tab "partition info"
4. What is listed at "First physical sector"?
