Solved Recovery doesn't detect my recovery partition

   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

That's the problem. When I try the factory image restore, it doesn't detect my recover partition anymore. Although in the screenshot, it's there and it's occupying space so the files are still in it. The partition is still in its original state. I just need to make Windows detect it as my recover partition again.

Boot the DVD & open a Command Prompt.

1. Click Command Prompt from the System Recovery Options window.
2. In the Administrator window, type the following lines, pressing <Enter> after each line.
path d:\windows;d:\windows\system32
d:
CD Tools
PCRestore
3. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.
4. In the Confirm Data Deletion window, click to select Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition, and then click Next. The message Factory image successfully restored! appears when the process is complete.
5. Click Finish to restart the system.

In case somebody encounters the same problem, this is what I did to restore using Dell DataSafe Image Restore. This is ofcourse assuming that your recovery partition is untouched and undamaged.

1.) Downloaded and Installed my original OS version. Windows 7 Home Premium x64 in my case.
2.) Installed all necessary drivers.
3.) Installed Dell DataSafe software.
4.) Made a backup using my USB Flash Drive.
5.) Restored using the bootable flash drive.


Problem over. Thanks for all the help. Do not rely on Dell's support even if they can help with basic stuff. They even tried to refer me to this website for help.

How did that fix your recovery partition? Seems like you just bypassed it. You did a new install of the os, then made your backup. I'm having the issue of the recovery partition not being recognize, even though it's there and healthy. A new install with the os disk that can with the system wouldn't fix that. It's just creating a new one, without all the other software that came with the system. At least that's how I see it. I could be wrong.

I'm basing this from what I think happened.

If your recovery partition is untouched, then that's good. I didn't fix my recovery partition because it wasn't damaged in the first place. I had to reinstall windows over my current installation because I couldn't boot. After win7 was reinstalled, I reinstalled the software that was used to create the recovery partition which was dell datasafe. It was the only software that recognized it and somehow, it changed its status back to normal hidden state. I then made a backup USB then restored.
