Finger pad to replace chip and pin --BEWARE not a good idea

This seems to me to be fairly dangerous technology

A desperate set of crooks would simply slice the victims finger off and use that (Hollywood movies have done that sort of stuff for years so it's not new).

Using Biometric data for security purposes carries IMO all sorts of other potential risks -- at least with Chip and Pin the worst you could lose was your money -- with the other sort of stuff what next -- eyeballs being cut out etc etc. You certainly could lose more than just your money.

it does mention it reads the pattern of veins,not fingerprints.
i assume that a dead finger would not have the vein structure it would when attached to the rest of the body.

there are easy mechanical ways to replicate that as well -- Biometrics aren't the answer to security.
What happens anyway in the case of amputees -- why should they be prevented from accessing or spending their money.

Anyway to all budding geniuses out there -- if you want to become the next Bill Gates, Richard Branson, or even George Soros come up with some really good SAFE and practically unhackable security system.

I agree so ..I'm wondering what Happens to someone who has had a Horrific accident and has been disfigured like fingers burned and prints burned off etc ... this would effect them especially if they managed to recover and try to move on with there life

What about all the people out there that have issues with having there own account and they have like a family member or spouse put there money under there name they would be screwed...........wow they are really trying to get rid of general practices all together
