I have been experiencing the same issue over the past few days and I am on a wired network.

I have removed all traces of Bonjour so hopefully that will resolve it. What did fix the issue for me last time was to turn my router off for 30 secs and restart it.

You may just be having some dns problems. rebooting the router will auto refresh your IP, and renew the lease on the IP. You may also have IP-6 support enabled on the nic. Is there any pattern to when it happens? does it do that when coming out of sleep/hibernation, or when something else happens on the computer.

If you want to try the lease re-newal you can use ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew from a cmd prompt.

the symptoms sound the same. We have been trying all sorts of options without success, but I do find the 64-bit OS issues with some NIC's mentioned before interesting as the issue got worse changeing from 32 to 64 bit

Fixed my issue

Bonjour was the reason for my issue however I was unsuccedful at uninstalling it so I just reinstalled it from the downlaod at Apples website and now my internet is working again.

I had a similar problem, tried absolutely everything. And I mean everything!
Only solution I found was to buy a Windows 7 approved/certified card and update the driver. Mine works great now but still shows no connection even though everything works fine and internet access is perfect. Go figure.
By the way I have a new AMD with Nvidea video and networking that just does not work properly. I purchased a new Realtec Gigabit card for less than 28USD.

Hi all,

first of all please excuse my bad English. I'm writing from Germany. My question: Is it possible to delete all network settings in order to restore them automatically through Windows or manually? If yes, how to do this? Which registry keys and/or other settings must be deleted? Or do I have to reinstall Win7 RC completely?

The reason of my question: Since few days I'm confronted with the "No network access - Unidentified Network" problem on one of my three Win7RC-notebooks. It's the only network I can see and it's a wired connection. I didn't make any changes to Windows and on the router. The network diagnosis tells me that the IP-configuration is incorrect, but it doesn't say how and where to correct the settings. All necessary services are running, but it's impossible to create a new network connection. The router firmware is up to date and the router works fine for the two other Win7-laptops. They too have a LAN-connection to the network and the Internet.

I've tried the solutions suggested here in the forum, but unfortunately no one works. Reinstalling and updating the LAN cable driver also doesn't provide a solution. I have also imported the network and firewall settings from the two other notebooks, but it didn't solve the problem.

the absolute solution for me was disabling the BONJOUR SERVICE
you can see in the task manager(click at view all tasks) that msdnresponder (bonjour) is running

disable via control panel---administrative tools---services---bonjour service
disable it--will cause no malfunction for other programs
it comes after installing picasa photo shop or some other adobe program

the funny thing with my problem is this ...
i have a small internet cafe ... i tried to install win7 on some of my computers ... then its brought me a lot of problem when it comes to network ...
the problem is when i open a pc with win7 OS .. i have always prompted with a "unidentified network" of course i should do something because my costumer is waiting, you know what i did ... i pull the network cable and plug it in again ... and then the problem is fixed!! sometimes i need to pull it about 3 times, 4 times ... and its really a big trouble!
what do you think guys?? whats the problem??

Hey guys! Just wante dto say that I've had the exact same problem as Taurus. After trying all solutions I decided it had to be my onboard Atheros NIC, so I bought this USB NIC with drivers for Windows 7, installed it, and got the exact same error. I tried switching cables to my router and got the same error. I tried rolling back drivers. I tried installing new drivers. I tried disabling and re-enabling. I tried turning off my router and turning it back on. I tried turning off my modem and turning it back on. I disabled all antivirus/firewall services. I tried looking for Bonjour services. Bonjour was neither installed nor running services. I tried looking for Adobe CS3, because a forum mentioned it has some services that might mess with W7 networking. So in the end, I found this forum and will try resetting my TCP/IP stack and running the command listed above, but I strongly doubt I will be able to fix it with either. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to reinstall windows 7. I keep getting the same "Unidentified Network - no access" error with the wrong IP address listed, even when I statically route my IP address properly, it does not work. I thought it was a driver error for sure, but with both network cards and confirmed network connectivity and router reset, I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions?

Download and install the Bonjour program from apples website. There is a link to it somewhere on this thread. That fixed my connectivity issue without having to reinstall windows.

Make sure your router firmware is up-to-date. We upgrade all the drivers in our PC for Windows 7 but forget to upgrade the router firmware. I upgraded my router firmware and all those unidentified network problems went away. It is much easier than forcing windows 7 to work with an out-dated router firmware. I wish this forgotten upgrade of the router is promulgated by Microsoft. Consequently many of us wasted a lot of time on this one.
