Trouble getting burned files to play on bluray player?

I'm in the process of calibrating my subwoofer and want to make a CD audio disc of bass frequencies from this site (http://www.realtraps.com/test-cd.htm). The download contains many MP3 files. I burned the files to a CD and the CD plays on my computer but doesn't play on my Panasonic BD-85. I really doin't understand what's happening as I have burned music on a CD and that plays on the BD-85. I'm sure that I am doing something wrong, but don't know what it is.

If they are MP3 files, does the Blu-Ray player play MP3 files? That may be the problem and if it is, you will have to convert them to wav files and then burn a standard "audio" CD.

However, the MP3 files concern me as they are not full fidelity and if you are trying to calibrate something you need the full fidelity audio signal. Converting an MP3 to wav will not restore full fidelity, it can only be as good as the MP3 file is. If the site you are downloading from has wav files, download and use them, bypass the MP3 files (which are "something less" than full fidelity).

I have a recording studio so I'm well attuned to fidelity of audio/music files.

Thanks, fireberd. Here are the audio capabilities of the player:
CD (CD-DA) (Regular CD Disc)
CD-R (Music [CD-DA], DivX, MP3, JPEG)
CD-RW (Music [CD-DA], DivX, MP3, JPEG)
Apparently it can play MP3 files, but not the way I burned them, eh? As for converting into .wav files, I don't know how to do that. But then again, the MP3 files that I do have on CD-R were from a site that says one can use them to test with. Nonetheless, taking you expertise advice, I would go with .wav if I knew how to do it.

MP3 files are burned to a "data" disc, not an "Audio" disc. Could this be the problem?

How or what did you use to burn the disc? I have Nero, but the free CDBurnerXP will do the job.

Burned them to an audio disc, and in the process of not getting anywheres, I used up all my cd-r discs. Have none left to burn to data as the used ones can't be reused...

Got the files (MP3) onto a CD-RW. My player doesn't do wav. However, when playing it sounds like there is a change in pitch every 10 seconds for each track. Pitch may be the wrong word to describe the change in sound, but every 10 seconds it sounds as though something is increasing???

There is no need for special "Audio" CD-R's on a computer. Whether you are buring actual Audio discs or data discs you just use regular "data" CD-R's. The special Audio CD-R's are only needed for some standalone Audio CD recorders. This was a concession to the music industry and the extra cost of "Audio" CD-R's is passed on to the music industry.

Since the sound changes every 10 seconds, routinely, I'm inclined to agree with you that this is a planned event. Here's the site from which I got the free sound download:

Looks like that is the case, intentional change of frequency.

From the site:

The tones are spaced at 1 Hz intervals, with ten tones per CD track, and the layout is shown below under Track Contents. At most frequencies you can hear the transition from one tone to the next, but you can also use the CD player's time readout if needed. For example, Track 10 plays 100 through 109 Hz, so if the time readout says 23 seconds that means you're 3 seconds into the 102 Hz tone. If you get lost, just rewind to the start of the current track and resume from there.
