I am using 64-bit version, and there is a problem. I want to change watermark text on desktop (right, down corner of screen). It is possible by changing user32.dll.mui in resource editor. I edited 32 and 64-bit file in WOW64 and System32 folder, but text on screen is same. Nothing changed... I replaced backups in C:\Windows\winsxs because it may use system file from backup, but nothing. How can I successfully apply modified system files on 64-bit Windows OS?

Have you taken ownership of the files you want to replace in system32 and SysWOW64?
If not , sometimes when you paste the new ones, it seems like they are replaced but they are not.
Check the permissions under the security tab in properties to make sure you have enough rights over the files to replace.
If not try using the Take Ownership tool.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
J

Welcome to the Seven Forums

What "watermark text" are you trying to change, what does it say?

Is it the user32.dll.mui or the registry make up your mind. You are not telling the whole story.

Bongo, you are just not getting it.

The registry edit is to show the text, the file modification is to change the text. This post had nothing to do with the Windows license.

Welcome to the forum jtchurch.

I think you are not getting it.
When it comes to Windows 7, a proper activation and proper Windows Updating is critical if you want Windows 7 to work properly. That also includes when one is trying to get 3rd party programs to work with Windows 7.
