Am I buying the best laptop for the price?

I'm currently in the process of buying a new laptop, and out of the ones that I've looked at so far, the Asus N56Z seems like the best choice for the price.
I live in Europe so the price is around 1450 in US dollars for that Asus laptop, and I'd prefer not spending more than 1500 US dollars.

So my question is: are there any better laptops at that price?
I know it's a bit difficult to say due to the price difference between the US and Europe, but I would love to hear your thoughts anyway.

Those who have experience with the Asus N56Z are more than welcome to post their opinion about it.

If you are looking for a laptop under 1500, I think you should try the N76 (just on the top of the N56), which, of course, have better specs.
For example : Amazon.com: ASUS N76VZ-DS71 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black): Computers & Accessories .
Since it is below your initial price, I guess this is a better investment

I thought about that one, but I prefer a 15.6 inch screen over a 17.3 inch screen, and the N76 doesn't seem that much better. Thanks for your suggestion though

You can typically find them for 40% - 50% off MSRP and most of them come with warranties too. All my laptops are refurbished and I haven't had a problem with any of them.

I typically like to look at a computer that is out of my price range, then look up to see how much a refurbished one costs. Most of the time it will be in your price range. Hope this helped. Let us know if you have any more questions and what you end up choosing in the end.

I got my Asus k53e that way, i5, grade A condition. I upgraded the memory and the experience rating had a marked improvment over the factory jazz.

Used/refurbished laptops isn't that widespread where I live, and I also prefer a new laptop. Thanks for your advice anyway

That would be a huge waste of money for web browsing, school and office work.

Really? No, I'm probably not going to use it for gaming. I have Civilization 5 installed on my current laptop, but I haven't played it in a long time.
I'm primarily going to use the laptop for web browsing, school & office work, streaming tv/sports and watching movies/series and editing pics. I plan on making the laptop last for at least 3 years, so I want to make sure that I'm getting a good one.

With the exception of Compaq, the laptops which last the longest are the low end ones in my experience.

My beach laptop is a 10 year old HP business 510 that will not die even when full of sand, and runs as fast with a perfect install, Celeron and 1gb RAM as any high-end PC.

However if you have the money or are a student who wants to use their PC as functional bling then get what you feel most comfortable with. I like to save money, using it instead to travel anywhere I want whenever I feel like it.
