Best Windows 7 Edition for my PC

Hi,

I got a used IBM pc from my uncle as a gift. It has a pentium 4 2.80Ghz processor and 1.50Gb of RAM. And for the OS it has Windows 7 Enterprise. But I kind of find it low in performance. What is the best edition I can install in this PC? Please suggest..

To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how:SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

I have attached the image as per the guides. it is a desktop computer.

Model number is IBM WQM 8187.

You can try 7 Home Premium, but honestly, you should just put XP Pro on it. You will get the best performance out of it with that CPU and that amount of ram. Your FSB is only 533 MHz.

I have a Dell 4550 with these exact specs with 2 Gigs of ram and a QuadroFX 1150 card, it is not worth wasting your time or money putting Windows 7 on it.

According to this, you can max it out to 4 Gigs. If you do that and get a good video card for it then you could install W7 HP 32 Bit.

Does it have a slot for a video card ? And what type ? Probably a low profile pci or agp. Can`t tell from this info.

It does not matter which edition of Windows 7 you install on it. They are all the same and the same level of performance. The only difference is additional features, features that have no impact on performance.

Firstly - why wud anyone get a P4 in this time when its already obsolete. - just asking. Yes best advice like addram said put XP on it and maybe upgrade ur ram to maximum cpacity. Check how much ram ur motherboard supports and make sure u get the proper ram for it- dont think it can take the new DDR3 onwards for it.

You have to spend some time here b4 you get the banners.

You can change the color with the User CP, click on it at the top of the page.

Arc made my signature with input from me, isn`t it beautiful

Until you gain some posts ans time on the forum your sig can be only 600x100.

Ahh thanks. I actually came on to learn more and also to help others with their queries where i can. just so happened i saw some nice sigs and i dont know how to use dat. dats why i asked. is this some kinda forum rules? also who is Arc?
