my new nvidia gt630 is not working

hello,
i have intel dg31pr motherboard.i recently purchased nvidia 630gt 2gb ddr3.when i start the pc the display doesn't work.i tried other graphic card also nvidia 8800 gt had the same problem,only my old graphic card 8600gt works properly. plzz help me,i dont understand the problem.
system specs : intel core 2 duo e7200 @ 2.53 ghz,2gb ram,550 w psu

550 w psu..and i can't install the driver because i don't get the display...as if the cpu is running and the moniter is not started at all

Did you uninstall the drivers for the 8600GT before swapping cards?

Normal procedure: uninstall the drivers for the old graphics card. Shutdown rather than reboot. Swap cards. Start up. Install drivers for the new card.

There's always a chance that the new card was dead on arrival. I hope that's not the case.

And you haven't answered the questions. Is the fan spinning on the new card when you power up the computer?

Yep I should have mentioned too Erick that manufacturers screen on switching it on too

Reminds me of when I worked for HP troubleshooting laptops in a call center. The eu would call and say my laptop will not power on then you would asked them to make sure it is pluged in and the cord from the wall is plug securly into the power brick. I had a lady get mad as heck at me one night when I asked her this but somtimes it can be that simple. You should lighten up torresno it called troubleshooting and these good people here are trying to help you.

Well put Kelly just lately I have turned on the lappy and forgot to turn the wall socket on and wondered why the thing suddenly crashed.

I know the problem. You bought a weak and cheap PSU that can barely handle your system as is, and even if the card does not need external connection it probably cannot fire up due the pathetic performance.

But then again, you never posted your systems specs. Or provided any other sort of intelligent information, instead you basically said ''Plugged card, it won't werk, watdo''

Nobody here is looking at your computer, nobody knows what motherboard,cpu,ram,psu you have. And you expect us to solve your problems?

Really, if you are going online to seek for help, you are no one to say what type of questions are n00b and which ones are not. After all YOU are the one looking for help. If YOU were not a computer ''n00b'' you would not be posting here in the first place. So for the rest of the people who will continue helping, even though I doubt many will want to help as cheerfully as before.

Tell them what motherboard,CPU,RAM, and PSU you own, and post links to see their descriptions.

I suggest you start learning a thing or two about how to accept help, and how to use a computer young man.
