Motherboard or Mainboard for i7 3930K(more things in description)

Hello guys, her are the things listed below,

• Intel Core i7 3930K
• Sapphire HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 Graphic Card/GPU
• Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD16GX3M2A2400C10 16GB(2x8gb) 2400mhz
• CORSAIR Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
• and 2 ssd + i 2tb hard drive

SO guys can anyone suggest me a motherboard for it, i need atleast 4+ ram slots and 6 hard drives slots, 2 graphics card slots, and also suitable for my liquid coller and suggest me a power supply for it

The mother board will have to have an LGA 2011 socket to accomodate the CPU you listed (such as an X79). Is there any reason you chose the i7 3930K?

For a motherboard Id go for the Asus RIVE ( RAMPAGE IV EXTREME ) . Will match the color of your memory great . Black and Red . Nvm on the memory color didn't read the Platinum .

Are you going to over clock your CPU ?

I use an Asus P9X79 Pro with an I7-3930k.

It has the standard 6 Intel SATA ports (two of those are 6Gb/s, the other 4 are 3Gb/s, as is standard for an X79 board). It also has 2 more 6Gb/s SATA ports, using a Marvell controller.

For the RAM, I'd suggest a quad channel kit rather than the dual channel you specified. It may not make a huge difference in practice. I gave the DDR3-2400 frequency a miss; stayed with the DDR3-2133 (GSkill F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH, from the Qualified list for the board). Supposedly the returns are rapidly diminishing above DDR3-1600. The prices rise rapidly above DDR3-2133.

Power supply? I don't own this one, but it's very popular:

You'd want something larger if you ever wished to add a second 7970 in Crossfire, though.

Any high end Asus motherboard for Socket 2011 will do you just fine. As for the power supply, look at the Corsair AX750 .

Should be a beast of a PC when you get it done. What do you plan on using it for?

If your going to use the 3930K I'd over clock it . The C2 stepping version of the CPU could go to 4.8 on a good water block . I've seen some on the one you're going with .

I am going to overclock it to as much speed it can go, (i think the linit is 4.8 ghz, but i have heard some people's going beyond limit to 7.0 ghz)

I don't follow what you post, but:

The motherboard that you link to is a Z77 one. It's socket 1155, and completely incompatible with an I7-3930k (which is Socket 2011). You'll need a board with an X79 chipset for the I7-3930k.

You can use dual channel RAM with an I7-3930k. However, it supports quad channel memory, so (in principle), you'd get better performance with 4 DIMMs.

Are you sure that you wouldn't prefer to combine a board like that with an I7-3770k? It's be a high-end quad core Ivy Bridge CPU rather than a low-end 6 core Sandy Bridge E CPU. The dual channel RAM would be good for a Z77 board.

Ivy Bridge-E boards should be coming out sometime this year. IT all depends on how bad you need to build the machine. Id personally wouldn't get a board that has onboard graphic card. Id have to share the memory with the onboard device and if I want to use a graphic card for better gaming Id have to disable the onboard video. All Asus x79 LGA2011 SOCKET boards are good. If you will be doing xFIRE or SLI you would need to get a floppy power cable to plug into the motherboard of the ROG RIVE( Rampage IV Extreme ) boards .

I don't mind having on-chip graphics because it should disable it as soon as you install a graphics card, and if something ever happens to the card, you aren't left without anything to output graphics. Plus, the Intel HD 4000 graphics has Quick Sync II which encodes videos faster than any standalone graphics card.

They do not.....I was just saying on-chip/board graphics have some advantages. But no, Socket 2011 has none of that.

I was thinking the floppy connector wasn't right, and I was going to check the ROG specs.......you beat me to it. Also, for people that weren't around when floppy drives were mainstream.....the connector is called a Berg connector.

Yes, my Z77 Sabertooth will use both, but most people stop using the onboard graphics when they install a standalone card. Unfortunately, quite a few people have issues with the Lucid Virtu MVP software.

When I meant by floppy connector I meant to say the power cable for the floppy drive . Which is the molex cable . The Toughpower Grand Series have them .

The connector I am referring to is the white pin connector EZ_Plug2 on top of 6-pin PCI-E power port . Which only fits the floppy drive for power .

The second connector from the left on the top row is a molex connector. The one to the right of the molex connector is a floppy connector. That is the one that goes in the white connector on the MOBO pictured above. What is probably confusing people is some of the ASUS LGA 2011 boards have a molex connector such as this one (look at right corner of the board):
