This might be fixable through the OS or it might be peculiar to my notebook (ASUS G74SX).
I am seeing my notebook while on the battery just shutting off as its power level reaches a certain threshold. There is no forced entry into a sleep or hibernate mode as a user would want. It's an abnormal shutdown.
Moreover, the shutoff is occurring at something like 20% power level.
Do I need another application to watch battery power or to do a better job of managing a forced entry to sleep or hibernate?
It seems like it was properly going to sleep mode before but this has changed.
One other complication: ASUS bundles its own applications and utilities. One of these is the power management control panel utility called Power4Gear Entertainment.
I have never really understood why ASUS provides this if the MS Win 7 environment has profiles too. Should I uninstall this ASUS extra?
