Dark Energy and Dark Matter always troubled me. It's like insert something here because we don't know.

To me it's interesting to read what people that are paid by a university to sit around and 'explain' the beginnings of the universe, something no human can really have a true understanding of.

think about the universe is a waste of time (and space, lol). sure we could learn what all that pretty black nothingness is, but .... who cares. it's not going to change anything. by the time they send some 6 trillion dollar probe (at the tax payers expence) out there, we'll all be long dead. so WE will never know. people, 2-300 years from now might, but screw them. they're jerks . they could spend all the money on earth, but it could just turn out that the anti-matter (or w/e) is cake frosting.... is it really worth the trouble to find out? i dont think so.

With that attitude we would still be living in the dark ages. It's the biggest question ever (where did we come from?). To not try to answer it would be irresponsible.

well i feel that anything you have no influence over should left well enough alone. we an effect of the universe, not the cause. the effect has no influence over cause. it's a rational impossibility. here and now is really the only thing that matters.

@ ten. are you going to care if we make contact alien life 100 years from now? or if the world ends? nope. we'll all be long gone, so it doesn't matter. it CANT matter.

Do you have any concept/idea if how ironic it is that you have the ability to type that statement on desktop computer connected to the internet?

Even Neanderthal Man demonstrated enough intellectual curiosity to master fire and the handaxe and is thought to have performed ritual burials of their dead.

Where would YOU be had the entire population been of your mind-set "2-300 years" or 3000 years ago? I am grateful they demonstrated more intelligence, curiosity and maturity.

@ Antman - True. Though I wouldnt say im concerned about the future of mankind, as you stated, but i do recycle .... so im helping insure that there will be a future for mankind, and an earth left for them to live on.... i guess.

Did the ant develop the arch through reason or by a Darwinian trial and error process of evolution?

Should the earth be visited by alien archaeologists a million years from now and the human species has all gone to meet its maker, what will they hypothesize about us?
