W7 boot: bypasses UserAccount with Admin rights / with password

PC i7-2600, W7 Home Premium SP1 x64 OEM.
When installed a useraccount with password is created.
The user account has admin rights.

When the PC is powered on: the account logo with User Account name is on the screen and a password has to be entered. This worked for about 2 years without problems.

However something changed:
When the PC is powered on or reboots: the Windows desktop is operational. No password has to be entered.

The user account and password still exist, however with Power-On and (re)boot the user account with password is bypassed, and the PC becomes operational.

This happenend after: java udate, adobe flash update, AVG 2012 Internet Security update.
I use ccleaner to keep the register clean. The changes in the register are backup-ed in xxxx.reg files.

Via Configurations menu I have changed the password of the only user account (with admin rights)
and rebooted the pc. The Windows desktop is coming up, after reboot, without asking for password.

MBAM, AVG2012 Internet Security, WinPatrol and Ccleaner are used.

Any idea how to solve this ?

No one here has recommended AVG since the forums formed in 2008, and it bloated up and fell out of favor several years before that. I would replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Before doing that I'd System Restore to your earliest Restore Point to see if you can get before the corruption.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command. If it finds corrupt system files run it several times to see if it can repair them. If not consider a Repair Install.

If you have the original factory preinstalled WIn7 which is a corrupt install to begin with, or varied much in your install from these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 I would do it over now to get a perfect install, backed up as an image to use in place of future reinstalls. The tools and methods which work best are provided along with everything else needed.

SFC /SCANNOW finds no corrupt files: 100% OK

System Restore to an earlier restore point did not solve the problem.

AVG2012 is not the cause of this problem, it could be the cause of other problems.

I didn't say AVG was the cause of your specific problem, just that it's a Worst Practice based on what we see here. Take it or leave it.

You likely lost the internet shortcuts link when uninstalling Chrome. Reset Internet Explorer as Default in Control Panel>Default Programs.

This is not the case: there is one System User with password.
The checkbox is filled.
With Power-On and reboot the User profile is ignored and W7 just starts up into the Desktop screen.

I understand what you mean.
I can always leave AVG.

You likely lost the internet shortcuts link when uninstalling Chrome. Reset Internet Explorer as Default in Control Panel>Default Programs.

Internet Explorer 10: is the default browser, which corresponds to the setting you refer to.
This is OK.

From the desktop:
1/. starting programs from the desktop accessing the internet: no problems.
2/. clicking on shortcut with a http:// reference: does not work

Power-On or (re)booting Windows 7:
1/. Windows User account / password is bypassed. The system comes up into the desktop without asking
for password.

So you did not check? It is pointless how many users you have; even in a system with one admin user you can unselect the Users must enter a username and password in which case the sole user would be automatically logged in even when this user has and wants to use a password.

It is of course fully up to you if you don't want even to check it but in most cases similar to yours that's the answer. Whether it has been done accidentally or on purpose and then forgotten, or if it's done by a third party program is meaningless here. This is the culprit in most cases where users who suddenly have to enter a password when normally not, or who suddenly will be automatically logged in even they want to use password.

Of course I checked your advise.
I followed:
1/. Open the Start Menu, typed: netplwiz in the search box, and pressed Enter.
2/. same response as the screen you showed in your message (above).
3/. check box [x]: Users must enter a Username and Password to use this computer, was checked [x]
I could not do much more.

After that I solved an IE10 next TAB issue, were I wanted the first startup page should be entered each time.
This setting was lost, when the pc was rebooted and has to be set again.
This problem is solved.

After this repair I did your advise again:
1/. Open Start Menu, typed: netplwiz in the search box, and pressed Enter.
2/. check box [ ]: Users must enter a Username and Password to use this computer, was NOT checked [x]
3/. I checked the box [ ] changed: [x].

After this change, I rebooted the PC.

After Power-on or reboot:
I have my User account on the screen and have the password has to be provided.
This part of the problems is solved.
