What's your memory assessment speed? [2]

I keep Resource Monitor on my Taskbar and do take a peek every now and again. Just curiosity makes me do that. If you do anything such as a quick scan with MAM or what ever you can watch how Windows 7 movers those little colors around making adjustment all the time. I have all my memory management handled by Windows 7. No hibernation and no sleep. When I'm not using the computer I turn it off. It only takes 30 to 40 sec. to boot. Some people think that booting a computer takes years off the users life; no it doesn't and it cost nothing. Computer system seem to like a boot now and again. That's what my computers tell me.

Sometimes I wish mine would talk to me. Do you often chat with other electrical components?

sorry to inform you but it did--I came from xp-pro back in November with a new asus machine I put together--I have hard drives on the way now for installing the 64 bit--but those figures you see are indeed from the Ult-32 bit. Can't help it if you don't believe it

I'm not saying I don't believe you. If you say it did, then it did. I'm just saying that numbers like that are unusual for a X86 rig.

Nice. What kind of RAM and CPU are you using?

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 1866 (PC3 14900) 1.5V 8-9-9-24
i7-3930K 3.2 ghz Asus xmp is running it at 3.8

as for the other post--I haven't doctored the number reported--if it's not correct then it's Win7 that is making the mistake in the test--I get that type of number everytime I run winsat and the score on the win7 performance page for memory is 7.9--my total score is lower because of the scsi drives I use--but I do for their reliability for the programs I run on my comp.

I honestly thought I'd get better scores from DDR3-1600, but compared to the 12000mb/s my DDR2-1066 was giving me, this is still an improvement. I haven't started playing with any overclocking yet, I do plan to once my machine settles down a bit though.. All I've done so far is set the speed to 1600MHz, still running auto timings and voltages on the RAM.

Think I might test my Corsair 2x2GB kit at some point as well, just to see how speeds compare. But for now, I'm loving the 8GB of RAM.

To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)
Full instructions are in the tutorial.

This is a DELL VOSTRO laptop with OS Win 7 Pro 64 bit laptop. I get a low memory warning after a few minutes of internet use. I have run all the programs (PC claeaner, TuneUp Utility 13) I can find and cannot get the system to perform normally. Using the task manager the IE usage rapidly gets to 350,000KB. How can I limit this or work around it? Any suggestioned will be appreciated.

Clancy, I would suggest you first read post # 277. We can't help much without knowing what hardware you have. In your first post here you said you were running Win 7 Pro 32 bit, in the post above you said it was 64 bit. It makes a big difference. Second I would uninstall PC cleaner and Tune up utility and any other such programs you have. Those programs are counter productive with Windows 7 and will ruin an OS. Dell ships completely full of trial programs and other stuff that will keep the OS from running as efficiently as possible. You may want to consider, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html after that, I think you will find your system runs much better.
