What's your memory assessment speed? [2]

I decided to open a thread to show what people are getting with there current memory settings, what improvements are shown with various timing tweaks, speed settings ect.

to access this you MUST have UAC turned off, OR choose 'Run as administrator'. open the command prompt window first, either by opening 'Run' from the start menu and typing 'cmd' --this will only work if UAC is deactivated--, or go to accessories in your start menu locate 'Command Prompt' right click, select 'Run as administrator'.

once opened simply type:
winsat mem

Note: it will not matter what the command path is set to.

i am currently facing issues with my DDR3 and being stuck at around 8500mb/s any suggestions why feel free. Dual channel and tri channel play a huge factor in this benchmark, so keep that in mind before comparing with others

post em up and let other people know what basic timings and MHz your set at (DDR2 950MHz 4/4/4/12 ect) and channel configuration (dual/tri channel) your using.

I also don't know of any program that will read ram temps. I use a Infrared Thermometer to read temps.

That's a pretty nice score.
there is no way to read RAM temps with software, motherboard don't have a sensor for it. I wouldn't even worry about RAM temp, it rarely overheats.

I do use a ram cooler but I don't really know that I need it.

In my experience RAM coolers aren't needed but may make cooler air available to your CPU cooler just by having more air circulation.

I have done some reading and most think they are not needed unless some exteme RAM over volting and overclocking is being tried. Many believe even then they serve no real benefit.

I have 16GB 2133MHz RAM and I have run Prim95 and Intel Burn Test on max simultaneously and the RAM was barely warm, in fact no more than at idle.

It is more important to provide adequate cooling for the CPU and GPU.

If you make the top Noctua fans both intake it will do better RAM cooling and overall cooling for you I think.

I have read the good, bad and I don't know about ram cooling. I'm still in the I don't know group. I do know it can't hurt to cool them a little more. I already have added 6 Noctua fans to my case along with keep the two OEM fans. NA I probably don't need ram cooling but it's got pretty lights.

I'm not selling SSD's, but it is by far the best performance improvement you can make to a PC. It's not just about boot times, everything is faster. But if you are happy with your PC, it is all good

If you try a SSD two things will happen.
1. You will want a bigger one.
2. You will want more of them.
It's a bunch more than just boot speed.

I say as an experiment, run on 16GB RAM and see if you notice any difference. An SSD and 2400 or 2600 RAM will make you pee your pants.

For regular Windows and program use, I'm sure there's very little to effectively no difference with 16GB RAM compared to 32GB. I guess for me it would be the difference between dual channel and quad channel, and I couldn't make as large a RAM drive.

Still thinking about getting another 32GB for 64GB, and yes, an SSD. It's not a priority for me at the moment though. (The 5.9 score gives me a laugh at least. )

To me SSD is a great big hunk of fast RAM that when the power is removed it still remembers everything from the past and can locate it. Kind of simple explanation but it works for me.

RAM (or at least decent RAM) is still many times faster though, but yes, SSDs are significantly faster than spinning disks and aren't volatile like RAM.

I won't beat you up on it, but with the amount Ram you already have, I guarantee a SSD will make a bigger difference
