Yes I enabled XMP in my bios so it it running 1600.

So I am at work, but have RAM that appears to be clocked at 1333 is there a guide or resource anywhere on what I can do to get this up to 1600?

System isn't in my specs.

here are specs:

It would be options in the dram config in your Bios, Intel uses xmp but I think AMD might call it AMP. Either way check the bios, if it doesn't show AMP or XMP profiles you would have to manually set the timings.

Yes most Ram is 1333. Even when we buy 1600 or whatever it's actually 1333 by JEDEC standard, the merely add the timings to the profile (xmp) and sell it as 1600.

Then look at my ram from the CPU-Z shot

As you can see my RAM by JEDEC stand is actually 1333, however they loaded an XMP profile with memory timings for 1600.

So looking at this I bought RAM sold as 1600, that is actually overclocked 1333.

If I am wrong I apoligize for putting out bad info, but from what I see I am correct.

As you can see, the ram shown was sold as DDR3 2133, but it can only run at 1333 and still be within JEDEC spec! Also, you can see that it's max rated bandwidth is 1333! So really it is overclocked DDR3 1333 sold as DDR3-2133! Currently, the highest rated memory available is 1866 but is almost impossible to find or afford if you do, almost everything you see available for purchase is 1333 or at most 1600!

What they are saying is that RAM that runs at a different frequency than the JEDEC standard is out of their specs. It does not mean all RAM is 1333. Also The max bandwidth in CPUz is the default BIOS RAM as determined by the SPD chip, it does not mean that is the highest frequency.

It is very wrong stating that 1866 is the highest rated memory. I have 2133 and 2800 is readily available. There are rumors of 3000 but I've not seen it yet.

As to RAM overclocking, anything higher than what BIOS/CPU combos support natively is considered overclocked, however it is actually setting RAM to its specs.

Yes I see your point. I was basing my info off JEDEC standards, it's a technicality so to say, my ram runs at 1600. I did not mean to cause confusion, but as my screenshot shows I have 1333 ram overclocked to 1600.

Dude, your ram is running at 1600. It is 1600 ram. What I think you are looking at are JEDC specs which show the different frequencies the ram is capable of. If you are looking at the SPD tab at the max bandwidth, almost all ram says that. It is only a spec telling your motherbooadr the ram speed and timings to allow it to boot the first time. After you get into bios and set the timings, frequency and voltage, then your ram will run at specs. I have 2400MHz ram. The board is not capable of posting it at 2400MHz without the correct timings and voltage. After giving the board the correct timings and voltage, it will run at specs. True 1333MHz ram is not capable of running at 2400MHz, no matter what timings and voltage you use. If you look, my 2400 MHz sats the same.

No problem Dude. Gary, Tradesman explained it quite well on G Skill forum, but I can't find his post explaining CPUz and what the max bandwidth really means. It is basically telling the board how to boot it the first time. It is not the max bandwidth of the ram, just the bandwidth for the board to post.

Oops mean tot add my Asus Z77 board I have 2400 sticks in now and the board I think limits that to 2100 max and it did default back to 1333 when I first got it but like I said not too bright on this stuff and I might have been doing something wrong .

John, I went there and they wanted me to register and in some cases buy some of the articles. needless to say I didn't. But, the article linked by Dude explains it fairly well, I think. All boards have a default memory speed, usually 1333 or 1600. It will not run ram any faster than it's default speed unless you basically overclock it, to the board's perspective. That is what the max bandwidth is for. To tell the board what it can boot at on initial startup or after resetting CMOS. After you get into bios, you can set the frequency, voltage and timings for the ram to run at it's rated speed. It has nothing to do with the max bandwidth of the ram, but to the board. When you set the timings and frequency so your ram will run at a higher frequency cpuz max frequency states it will run at, to the board you have overclocked the ram because it is running faster than the board's default speed. To the ram, it is running stock as that is what frequency it was made to run at.

But, as I understand it, the physical qualities of the stick of 2133 ram is much different than a stick of 1333 ram. Ram can be overclocked to run higher than it's rated speed, but only to an extent. I don't believe it is possible, no matter what timings and frequency you put in bios for a stick of 1333 ram to run at 2400. All ram is 1333 but the timings are changed to make it run faster is not true. All boards default ram to 1333 is true. Gary and I had the same 2133 ram and the same board once. We both tried to overclock it to 2400, but never came close. We did get it to run faster than 2133 but not even close to 2400. Gary got closer than me, but that is another story. But you have to add in that some boards are not made to run ram faster than a certain speed and the memory controller in the CPU plays a part in that too. I'm no expert on ram, but that is pretty close to the way I understand it. To show you, with your ram set to 2100, run winsat which shows its actual bandwidth. You will see that it is faster than the 'max frequency' stated on cpuz. I hope that made sense. I know what I was trying to say, but I'm not sure I explained it right.

The latest H100i's are having some issues. Funny the prices are falling for the i's and rising for the originals. Your rig looks great and Corsair will stand behind the H100 and you'll have to post new shots when the H100i is re-installed.
