Audio is crackling when internet is connected wired or wifi, tried numorous fixes but
nothing works. Here is my mon latency test result, seems like NDIS 6.20 driver might be the culprit
but what to do,i can't find it anywhere on the laptop.
Maybe someone can suss out this test result. Thanks in advance.:(

CONCLUSION
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. At least one detected problem appears to be network related. In case you are using a WLAN adapter, try disabling it to get better results. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.
LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:00:28 (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

Note: reported execution times may be calculated based on a fixed reported CPU speed. Disable variable speed settings like Intel Speed Step and AMD Cool N Quiet in the BIOS setup for more accurate results.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 3749.862090
Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 10.237516

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 3604.041247
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 1.269820

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MEASURED SMI, IPI AND CPU STALLS
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The SMI, IPI and CPU stalls value represents the highest measured interval that a CPU did not respond while having its maskable interrupts disabled.

Highest measured SMI or CPU stall (µs) 9.835423

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED ISRs

REPORTED HARD PAGEFAULTS
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hard pagefaults are events that get triggered by making use of virtual memory that is not resident in RAM but backed by a memory mapped file on disk. The process of resolving the hard pagefault requires reading in the memory from disk while the process is interrupted and blocked from execution.

NOTE: some processes were hit by hard pagefaults. If these were programs producing audio, they are likely to interrupt the audio stream resulting in dropouts, clicks and pops. Check the Processes tab to see which programs were hit.

Process with highest pagefault count: smartsetting.exe

Total number of hard pagefaults 14
Hard pagefault count of hardest hit process: 13
Highest hard pagefault resolution time (µs): 67258.209273

Well you could try Tom but personally how about trying another sound card I know it is more expense but worth a try I have Asus Xonar DG's in my Ivy and Sandy builds and one of my testers and for $35 a pop well just could solve the grief.

The GUI has some decent mixing and effects features and well I like them plus I run a Logitec 5:1 system form mine visa the GUI.

ASUS - Xonar DG

Sorry mate I saw desktop in your specs at power left so assumed as my dear Mum would advise me never to do that it was a desktop.

So I am again going to assume (sorry Mum) that it is a Samsung laptop?? if so mate what model?

If they are anything like Toshiba's they will have a model number on a sticker as well as the main model type see pic of my main laptop underside which denotes the area / region for which it is made ( a must be for ordering drivers parts etc) .

Just heard that disabling cpu eist in the bios will stop latency spikes and
audio crackling.
But i just had a look in my bios and i can't see it anywhere.Got a Samsung laptop NP300E5A-A02DX

Hum Tom temps ok but I have had a look through all those drivers and they seem to be variants for the audio, wireless and LAN set ups according to this listing http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/NP300E5A-A02DX-downloads now it is just finding the one that is in that machine. The BIOS I just cannot find the ref for updating it and is probably the chipset one - but don't take my word for gospel usually it is listed separately.

Try a read though the manual under downloads the one for Windows 7.
NP300E5AI - DOWNLOADS | SUPPORT | SAMSUNG UK

There is a troubleshoot section that mentions sound quality too NP300E5AI - TROUBLESHOOTING | SUPPORT | SAMSUNG UK

As a matter of interest have you got lot of data on this machine in case you need to do a factory default or fresh install?

Thanks for your help.Over the last three months i've uninstalled, reininstalled drivers updated rolled back and disabled and enabled everything in device manager.
As for windows 7 drivers on the Samsung site i've tried them aswell and most are out of date,to get the latest ones you have to go on the individual website.
If i explain my setup,i have hdmi to my plasma tv Samsung 51 e6500 and optical cable from tv to Sony amp str dh520 so my sound comes out through the floor speakers and subwoofer (2.1)
My audio driver shows as intel(r)display audio which i suppose bypasses the reatek sound driver for the laptop.
By data do you mean software?if so i have aprox 200 programs which is why i am reluctant to format my harddrive and reinstall windows,i have also read that people with the same problem as myself have done this and it's made no difference.
I think as one tech guy once said to me "All avenues have been exhausted"

Tom yes mate by data I meant programs docs photos etc etc and I can see why you don't want to reinstall.

Hum how about we ask in the more help thread mate cos without knowing just what that audio is made by - as you can see there are different mannufcturreresfor the wifi LAN etc etc ad nauseum.

The only other try I can thnk of is the plain tow wire stereo set up instae of the optical tobe honest I don't have much experience with that either.

I think a memeber named fireberd might be able to throw some light on this. I'll PM him if that is ok with you.

Fixing something like this can be elusive. It could be some program is accessing the internet in the background and causing the problems.

Can you post a screen shot of the DPC Latency Checker?

I had a problem with my desktop that was showing spikes in the DPC latency checker that turned out to be a Google updater accessing the web. That one took some time to correct as I had to ultimately manually edit the registry to get it all out.

Drivers are another issue.

That's about all I can add, right now.

OK. Confirms that the spikes are most likely the culprits. While on line, try disabling items that access the net and see if changes.

As I previously mentioned Google updater was giving me fits. Skype, or whatever can be causes.

I have Revo Uninstaller Pro (paid version which recognizes 64 bit programs - the free version only recognizes 32 bit) and when I uninstalled Google Chrome it still left the updater. That may not be your problem, just one that I encountered cleaning up my system. I use my system for my recording studio so it has to be "clean".

Wi-Fi, itself, can cause this. Look at what is in the startup and temporarily disable devices and see if it makes any difference. You don't have to actually uninstall, just disable in the startup to see. Also try booting to safe mode with networking and see if that makes any difference. Safe Mode doesn't load a lot.

My revo is pro aswell, forgot to say.I only used google chrome once to try it out when it first
came out,but i did'nt like it.I always use Firefox and on the rare occasions IE 10 when something
wont open up in Firefox.
I go into msconfig quite often and make sure only Avast IS is checked.Thats all that is checked now.
I shall check out safe mode with networking and get back to you,i suppose the thing is i can only go into
safe mode and view it on my laptop screen and not my Samsung tv which is using the Samsung Intel(R)Display Audio, and laptop uses Realtek High Definition Audio.

press start key, type "msconfig" hit enter, go to "services", select hide all microsoft services, untill only 3rd party apps and add ons show, then click disable all hit enter, "restart" your computer, twice if you have to, then run your audio program and see if it still stutters. if it doesnt, then your problem is in your add ons and 3rd party apps, your welcome!11
