The problem here is SPTD.sys.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall the program at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Download and install this version of Intel Rapid Storage.

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Atheros Valkyrie USB BootRom driver is also contributing in the BSODs.

Update it from ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

If possible, try to update the BIOS from Toshiba Satellite's website, for NWQAA.
Code:
BiosVersion = 2.20
[COLOR=Red]BiosReleaseDate = 09/14/11[/COLOR]

Let us know the results. And with the next post, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

i dont have any of thoes iso programs but i do use poweriso which i replaced with winCDemu, ill test to see if it uses the sptd (edit: used uninstall)

the atheros drivers came from a bluetooth adapter i have thats branded asus. https://www.asus.com/Networking/USBBT211_Mini_Bluetooth_Dongle/
im not sure if its necessary for the operation of the dongle or even what driver to get.

i scan with mbam monthly and use avast with security essentials, is it necessary to uninstall avast? i must admit i love watching the shields and activity monitors. :o

im also having to start explorer.exe manually on startup and having problems wit system diagnostic and event log services not working. should i make a different thread for thoes?

Using more than one real time protection program is very bad. It does not only make you unsecured against the threats, but they causes various troubles including BSODs. You have three installed. MSE, Avast, and Comodo.

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Uninstall Comodo following this method. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Super antiSpyware also have some compatibility issue there. So better you uninstall that one, too.

The source of SPTD is Alcohol 120% for you.
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Alcohol 120%
Uninstall it, and SPTD as suggested earlier.

You have 30 items stored in startup. Remove them as follows. Free up the startup.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus (MSE) and the touchpad driver, SynTPEnh.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Dont worry, by removing those you will not loss anything. Otherwise I would not have suggested it to you.

Report back after following all the suggestions.

im not having explorer crashes, it just doesnt start on login. once i run it it works fine. im still doing the troubleshooting guide from jack sparrow

edit: ive already done system file checker, checkdisk, and repair install with no real results. made another user account to check if it was a profile problem, same issue on test account. cant get a dump from a crash because it doesnt crash to create one. this also happens in safe mode. i dont have any external media to back up my disk for a clean install.

its not a major problem because i know how to start it myself and it doesnt cause any problems unless i shut down or restart, sleep is fine. if clean install is only option i may have to keep it like this until i can get external hdd for backup.

Open Windows explorer and in the left pane, click on computer. In the upper right type "explorer.exe" (without quotes) and let it search for all iterations of the file. Post a screen shot of the results.

It should look something like this.

For the backup, you can move all your personal files onto a Cloud storage program, like SkyDrive or Dropbox, they're both free to use and I believe Skydrive gives you free 8GB of space at first.

It would help if you followed directions. What is that list? What folder(s)? If that's all you're showing for Explorer.exe then SFC would have never run and it's not repairable. Windows container store is missing. I'm not sure if a repair install will fix that. Perhaps a Windows clean install will be the only way out.

1. Don't run Registry utilities unless directed and with specific settings. These do more damage than good in Windows 7.

2. Don't remove Windows 7 files because you heard it was ok for Windows XP or Vista.

that list is what was requested i post by you. that is every result that it returned. system file check did run and it did find errors that it wasnt able to repair. i followed the guide that i was referred to in post 12 instructing me to replace the corrupted system files not because i heard it was ok. i did this and afterwards still returned errors with sfc that it couldnt fix. i also tried a system repair with no results.

i have run registry cleaning from ccleaner and tuneup utilities. i have registry backups as far back as march of 2012 i do before cleaning because i am aware that registry cleaning could cause problems. i have not tried to patch it using these backups yet.
