Desktop changes, but only after Fast User Switching

I recently replaced my 1920x1200 display with a 2560x1440, and it seems that since then whenever I do a Fast User Switch from the intial user logon to a 2nd (both Admins), when I logoff User2 and switch back-again to the original user profile, certain of the gadgets and desktop icons move, those at the bottom of the desktop and below/right also. Although I'm not certain they necessarily move PRECISELY in alignment with a 1920x1200 desktop, that of course is what I suspect (suppose I use use a measuring tool to determine this exactly).

I have been to-the-moon-and-back trying things, including checking Device Manager for a hidden 2nd monitor (there is none), updating/checking Graphics drivers (this is an Intel DH67GD with HD2000 onboard graphics, W7HPx64), searching the Registry for appearances of the old 1920x1200 resolution, setting both desktops to the same theme, unchecking "allow themes to change icons", setting icons the same size, etc. etc. ad nauseum, to no change. What is further interesting is that if I logon originally to User2, and then fast-switch to User1 and then log-off User1, then User2's desktop is changed. So this problem occurs in "either direction". But it does NOT occur if I LOGOFF then logon again to the other user--it ONLY occurs when fast-switching such that the first user is still logged-on.

I wonder if anyone here knows what the "magic" might be for what-is-different between the situation where only 1 user is logged-on at a time, vs. the "fast user switch" where 2 users are logged-on at a time.

One thing I have NOT tried (yet) is to re-create the user profile(s), but I've not done this because I don't know which user profile I'd re-create i.e. the problem doesn't seem tied to the user...

Any thoughts about this would be welcome.

Well I seem to know how to "stump the stars" around here don't I. OK well my workaround is "don't do it" (Fast User Switch) i.e. log OFF and then log ON every user every time.

I've also set-up my Firefox profile on the main user profile so I don't have to switch to the other for surfing...

First time seeing this topic, and I think your description is confusing (too wordy) and maybe why you got no replies.

I think you need the 2 profiles to switch in between and have the settings stay, if that was the problem.

I'm sure you're right. I do too often try to include everything I've thought-and-done...

I don't know what you mean here. :o

I have 2 user profiles to switch between. The settings don't "stay".
