Can't change default font Outlook 2010

For some reason I'm unable to change the default font for my outgoing email.
When I go to Options>mail, and click on stationary & fonts nothing happens.
Any ideas please? I'm running Win 7.

You could try doing a Repair.

Since posting I've tried a repair installation, but with no luck. I'll now try these suggestions and come back.

For interest, when I'm on the mail page in Outlook options, I'm unable to get any response from:

Stationary & Fonts
Signatures
Spelling & Auto Correct
Editor Options

Any further ideas please anyone?

Hello basils57,

You can run a System File Check to make sure you don't have System issues.

If your only problem is with Outlook I don't think this will fix the problem, but it doesn't hurt to run this command periodically to check for System File issues.

You could also try a Clean Startup to make sure you don't have something else running that is causing this problem.

Again, I doubt this will help, but it might be worth a try...

As the Repair Install and Office Repair didn't fix the problems, you might consider uninstalling/reinstalling Outlook.

Yes you can here's how:
But first Back up all your email messages and contacts before anything else. (You will need to import them back into a new installation of Outlook!

Click Start then Control Panel then choose "Programs - Uninstall a Program" then highlight with just one click the MS Office 2010 . Then look at the top and you can hit "Change" this will then bring up a Window and you should choose "Add or Remove Features" Then you will see a list of all your Office components. Deselect Outlook leaving all the others selected then click "Update" or "Next". That will uninstall Outlook. You can then re install from your MS Disc.

OK; I've re-installed Outlook 2010, but still had the same problem, so I've stripped out temporarily (?) Outlook 2010 and gone back to my old version of Outlook 2007.

Is it possible to change the default font via the registry, as that would suffice?

Be very careful touching the registry unless you
a) Know exactly what you are doing and
b) You make a back up of the registry and store that back up on an external drive first.

I am surprised you still have the probem after re installing Outlook. We haven't established whether you have ever been able to edit the fonts and if so when did this problem first occur? Ifyou have never edited them before where did your install disc come from?

If we started from scratch I would be tempted to advise scrapping Outlook and using Windows Live Mail, much the better prog IMHO
